Chapter 十二
Surprise, Uncle is Here

          Racing through the trees I followed the scent of blood, my mind focused on nothing else. The scent was familiar and putrid. It was Yuki's blood. I had no idea what had caused her to shed so much of her own blood, but I was soon about to find out as my feet carried me at an even faster speed when the sound of gunfire rang out through the night.

Arriving at the ponds, my eyes fell to two figures floating in water and a man holding a gun that was smoking. So the Hunters have scent their best... I better inform Asa about this when this is all sorted. Finishing my thoughts with a small to-do list, I approached the three people while scribbling away on my notepad.

No one seemed to have noticed me, but I suddenly found a gun pointed at my face when I reached out and tapped the tall man's shoulder.

"Ryda?!" Ignoring Yuki's annoying outburst, I just brought up my notepad for the man to read.

'IIf you are going to be hunting on school grounds, please refrain from using loud weapons. It'll be a difficult situation if a Day Class Student where to wander around in search for the noise.'  The corners of my notebook began to crystallize with ice as I kept my eyes on the man as he read my message, his shoulders dropped and a look that was a cross between tired and dumbfounded crossed his face.

"I thought you were familiar when we met; you're the Silent Messenger." The man, Toga Yagari, grumbled while rubbing a hand down his face. "Great... another vampire of high power in the picture." With that the renowned hunter turned and walked away.

Sometime during my 'conversation' with the hunter, Yuki and Zero had climbed out of the water. I turned around to face the two and released a sigh. 'What are the two of you, idiots? Jumping into a pool of water at this hour, and in your uniforms too. Actually, who wears their school uniforms to a vampire's birthday part?' After reading my lecture, Yuki was the one to speak. No surprise there.

"Ah, well Zero started to get hungry so I..."

'So you became more stupid than you began.' I gave her a blank expression before flicking my wrist, the water that once soaked them now hovered in the air while they were now dry as bone. 'Well I have more paperwork to do now, thanks to the two of you, so I will be taking my leave.'

I disappeared from their sights and began making my way back to the party to inform Taka and Hana that I'd be having to leave for business, but I stopped in my tracks at the change in the air pressure. A murderous intent was weighing down the air around me.

I stilled my body to be almost like a corpse, and at the last second I whipped around on my heels just in time for a creature to leap out of the bushes at straight at me.

          Several hours had passed since the incident and I was still locked away in my office writing back and forth with Asa. The black covered, blue spine, book I was writing in was a magical thing. Asa had the red spine version and whatever he wrote would appear on my pages and vice versa. A far quicker way to converse from a distance than by owl. Our conversation had me drawn into my own world, the topic one of great importance.

Sitting in a cage of ice across the room, was a cat with mismatched eye colours and a thirst for blood. The cat was biting at the ropes that restrained him, and hissing out curses at me while doing so. Someone needs to clean his mouth out with soap.

'Rido has returned.'

~~~~~~~
It's been a long time! I'm so sorry!
I know the chapters lately have been short, but it'll extend the length of the book chapter wise so spare me.
My university has been on strike for the past month and a half and I'm just stressed and frankly beyond livid about it. I didn't pay these people to go on strike; I paid these people to help me get my diploma!
Anyways, hope you enjoyed the chapter and let me know of any idea you've got for the next one coming up^^
