"You remind me of sunshine, Sayori." You subconsciously mumbled out, while reading through her poem. Her eyes widened and her cheeks tinted pink at your comment.
"D-Do you really think so?" She asked you while fidgeting with her fingers. You looked at her and chortled at the reaction. A smile gently appeared on Sayori's face.
"Of course, you're always so happy and contagious, this poem is just so you!" You told her, cheering her up for no reason.
She averted her gaze to the floor and continued playing with her hands. "Hehe, if you say so." You heard her say with a childish tone in her voice. You slid the poem down the desk towards her and she placed her hand over it.
"Besides, it's clear you also wrote this in a rush this morning." You carelessly pointed out, looking down at your own poem as you fold it and slither it inside your blazer.
Sayori pouted and sat at the desk you two were standing around. She rested her elbows on the table and looked up at you. "H-How did you know?" Her blue eyes squinted at you as if suspiciously.
You took a moment to admire her cuteness, and chuckled when you did. "It's so obvious, you gotta try harder next time."
She looked down at the poem under her hand and whispered defensively. "You meanie..." You ruffled her hair for comfort but she shook her head in denial, making her coral pink locks shift around her face. "Don't do that, it makes me feel dumb..." She ranted out, resting a hand on her cheek.
You made your hand retreat from her head and kneeled down beside her. She looked at you and you two exchanged eye contact. "I can read you like a book, Sayori." You giggled at your word choice.
She faced the other way. "Haha, very funny..." She murmured. "Tell me when y- Aah!" She got interrupted by a sudden touch behind her. You had jolted towards her body, and given her a tight hug. The ends of her lips curved upwards as she secured your two arms in place with her small hands.
"Look, Sayori, when I said you reminded me of sunshine, I didn't mean any sunshine." Her expression suddenly shifted to completely confused.
"Eh? There is more than one type of sunshine?" You grinned at her innocence and hugged her even tighter for a moment. She felt the pressure against her and squealed. "Uuuh!"
"The type of sunshine you are can't be stopped by any shadow, can't burn any skin, nor can it stop radiating its light. You're everywhere, and always making the day better. What would a day be without sunshine, am I right?" Her face burned up redder at every sentence. "But most importantly, Sayori..."
She turned her face next to yours and tried to look at you with the corners of her eyes. Intrigued with the speech, she decided to keep quiet and pay attention to everything you were saying.
"You are my sunshine." You snickered, standing up again and walking away. Sayori was left a blushing mess, using her now freed hands to cover her face.
"Y-You... This doesn't end here, (y/n)..."
