The next day, Erik and I manage to quickly get out of the hospital, convincing the one nurse (who was the only hospital employee in the room at the time) we were fine and our families had come and signed us out.

She believed us, and I wondered if she believed us because she was just plain stupid, or somehow Charles had found me and went into the nurse's mind. However I believe it's just because she's not the sharpest knife in the drawer at that hospital and not my paranoia of Charles trying to find me.

Erik and I literally walked out of the hospital's front doors but right then we were ambushed by jounralists and people with cameras.

"Elsa Williams!" They shout.

"What the hell?" I look at Erik. "Did you give the doctors my name?"

"Yes." He answers. "But I don't know why-"

"Doctors must have told about-"

"Tell us about your wings!" They shout.

"Exactly." I answer.

"We need to get out of here." Erik says as more photographers and journalists come.

"How are we gonna do that? We're practically surrounded."

Then Erik flicks his wrist, a barely noticeable motion, and all of a sudden the group of people part in the middle, people shoved back by an invisible force. They cry out in surprise and cry out even more once all the film shoots out of the cameras after a small flick of Erik's wrist.

"Come with me." Erik says, grabbing my hand as we run through the gap. Soon the photographers and everybody else in that crowd lose us in a giant group of people in the street, and thank God both of us are wearing normal clothing so we can blend it better with the crowd. Erik pulls me to the side in a dark alley and I lean against the wall, breathing heavily.

"You're still not 100%." Erik says, not breathing as hard as I am. "I shouldn't have taken you out of there."

"No." I say. "I had to get out of there. We both did."

"Elsa, you're still not completely better."

"I'll be fine in a few minutes." I say.

"Immortality-"

"Helps my health."

"No it doesn't."

"Yes it does. If I'm supposed to live forever then my body has to heal itself in order for me to keep living. Erik, I can't die, I'm going to look the same forever and it's a curse I have to live with."

"If you get to look like that for the rest of your life I think I'd be fairly happy about it."

"What's that supposed to mean?" I look at him, my breathing back to normal now.

"Nothing. Get a hat." He says. "That way people can't recognize you."

"I can do much better than that." I say, and change my hair color from short wavy auburn to long wavy black with bangs. My jeans and long-sleeve shirt change to a long trench coat, pants, and boots with a hat which can easily conceal my face. All the clothes are relatively dark shades of blue and grey.

"Ta da." I say, and then make a hat appear on Erik, a hat that can easily conceal his face. I also make a trench coat appear on him.

"How the hell did you-?" He says in surprise.

"I've strengthened my powers since you've been gone." I answer simply. "Come on, you want to make it to France without any more problems?"

"Definitely." He says, and we walk back out onto the street.

"So what happened to your helmet?" I ask him.

"Nearby." He answers.

"Where?"

"In that bank in France. I'm getting it when we get there."

"Why the hell would you store something like that in a vault in France?" I ask. "I thought you didn't want Charles getting inside your head."

"And he won't." Erik answers. "I'll make sure of that when we get there."
