Jadah

I had finally fallen asleep just to be woken up again by my grandma. I looked up and saw her towering over me. The bed was too hard and I couldn't fall asleep, so I slept on the floor. It was better than the bed in my opinion.

"Wake up and get dressed. You slept through church. " she said as she looked down at me, confused.

"Did you kick me? " I asked ignoring what she told me. I know she didn't bend down to wake me up, so she had to have kicked me. I looked at her feet and she wasn't wearing shoes or socks. She had her crusty dawgs out near my face. Her toenails were over grown and cracked.

"What? Child get off the floor and in the shower. " I stood up and wrapped my blanket around me. "Grandma why yo toes look like that? You need to put them on a leash. " I scrunched up my face.

"My toes about to be up yo behind if you don't get out my damn face and in the shower. " she cursed at me. I gasp dramatically.

"Cussing on God's day you should be ashamed. " I shook my head at her playfully.

She ignored me and walked out the room, closing the door behind her. I walked over to my suitcase and pulled out all my outfits. I didn't have a lot of money growing up. My mom got money from her boyfriends and didn't spend it on me. The only thing she did buy me was food. If I saw something I liked the only thing I could do is steal it and that's what I did.

I pulled out my yellow hoodie crop top and pants to match. When I was trying to find some socks a bag dropped on the floor. It was weed. I was as happy as a 7 year old spoiled kid on Christmas. Ima smoke this to keep me calm. I'm not happy about seeing my family again. I don't want them to come up to me and talking about my mom and how sorry they are. Nobody ever tried to reach out when they sent the news around that she was dead, so I don't want them trying now.

I grabbed the bag and walked into the bathroom. I pulled out the weed and started crushing it with my hand. I pulled out a rollie and placed the weed inside and making sure it was even. I made sure everything was secure before licking it and lighting it to make sure it stays. I turned on the shower and lit my blunt. I placed it up to my lips and inhaled deeply and then exhaled the smoke.

I repeated this process until the walls started spinning and the blunt was too small to smoke anymore. I flushed it down the toilet and took my clothes off and jumped in the shower. I felt like I was on cloud nine. I stared at the water as it rushed down the drain and just chuckled to myself.

I stepped out the shower and walked toward my bed to get dressed. I put my hoodie on backwards twice before putting it on right. I walked back into the bathroom and found some eyedrops. My eyes were too red and they were hanging low. I can't do anything about the lowness, but I'll try to hold them open wider. I put the eyedrops in before brushing my teeth.

I parted my hair to the side and messed around with it until I liked it.

"Jadah they're here. " my grandma said as she passed my room. I didn't even hear the doorbell.

"Where's my damn necklace? " I asked myself as I looked around my room. I took the pillows off the bed, threw my clothes around, before stopping in front of the mirror and mentally smacking myself on the forehead. It was around my neck the whole time.

I walked out my room and heard people talking downstairs. I slowly walked down the stairs and heads turned toward me. I hate being the center of attention. I like to be lowkey and hang in the back.

"Well look who it is. " my uncle Jo smiled as he held his arms out and walked toward me. He hugged me, but I didn't hug back. When I'm high, my reflexes are slow. I was starting to hug him, but he pulled away so I didn't hug him.
