Nandini

I woke up at seven in the morning and checked my calendar to find that I had eleven appointments scheduled for the day. It was a Saturday but all five of us were working, Abhi Bhaiya and I would leave first followed by Mumma and Papa. Cabir would most probably have left in the early hours of the morning.

I quickly brushed my teeth and had a shower. Slipping into a light pink salwar suit, I applied my eyeliner and lipstick, braided my hair and picked up my handbag.

I walked into the living room thirty minutes later and called out to Bhaiya, "Abhi Bhaiya?"

"Coming, Nandu! One minute.", Bhaiya replied.

"Nandu, Abhi and you can't keep skipping breakfast!", Mumma scolded.

I smiled sweetly, "Mumma, I have an appointment at eight. Then I'm free for half an hour. I'll grab breakfast from the canteen. If Abhi Bhaiya's free at that time, I'll eat with him."

"There's no need for that. I'm packing Methi ke paranthe for both of you, I will skin both of you alive if you don't eat it.", Mumma threatened.

At that exact moment, Abhi Bhaiya entered the room, "Skin who alive?"

I suppressed a giggle while Mumma remarked sarcastically, "Aa gaya dusra namoona."

Abhi Bhaiya smiled and hugged Mumma, "What happened?"

Mumma shrugged, "Nothing much, just that both of you keep skipping breakfast. Sometimes, I wonder who gave you a medical degree."

I chuckled and hugged Abhi Bhaiya and Mumma, "Abhi Bhaiya, are you free from nine to nine thirty?"

"Nine to nine thirty? Let me check.", Abhi Bhaiya said as he pulled out his phone.

"Yes, I'm free. I have no appointments from eight thirty to ten.", he said a minute later.

"Great, we'll have breakfast together.", I beamed.

Abhi Bhaiya laughed, "Happy, Mumma?"

Mumma nodded, "Now, go before you get late. Papa and I have to leave in twenty minutes."

Abhi Bhaiya and I nodded and left in a minute.

Once we were seated in the car and had fastened our seatbelts, I asked Abhi Bhaiya, "Cabir's on duty?"

He nodded, "He had a flight at six so he left early in the morning."

I smiled, "I've never seen someone so crazy about flying."

"And I've never seen someone so crazy about physics!", Bhaiya laughed.

I looked at him curiously, "What do you mean?"

Abhi Bhaiya smiled, "Manik! He is crazy about physics. You should see the way his eyes light up when he talks about kinematics and thermodynamics."
