Chapter 23: despite everything, its still you

*frisk POV*
I stood their in shock. I was at a loss for words. I looked them over and a look of confusion crossed their face. Chara is back.
"Frisk. Why?" Chara asked grabbing my hand.
"I-I.... It's none of your business, Chara! You left!" I pulled my hand away, looking at Chara with tears in my eyes. I looked away from them.
"I-I'm-"
"Don't apologize Chara! Do you even understand how much you hurt me?!? It was horrible when you left! I sat around hoping you would come back the next day, but you didn't And now you think you can just show up and everything will be fine and dandy! Well let me tell you something, everything is not fine! You didn't let me help you when I offered, but instead you stabbed me. Leaving me to bleed in that house. It felt like an eternity until sans and Asriel came back! I could feel myself dying! I had time to think about certain things while I was on the brink of death. And the one thing that I thought about was how I could and would never forgive you." I looked them straight in the eyes.
"F-frisk I....I-"
"Save it, Chara. I don't want to hear it. You broke my heart that day. You should have never have come back. You are not welcome here anymore." That last sentence was hard for me to say.
"W-what?" Chara cried.
I just stared at them.
"Just stay out of our lives, Chara. Trust me. It's better for everyone like this." I walked up to them and kissed their forehead and started to walk off.
"FRISK!!" Chara yelled at me. I heard running behind me and then a second later a body collided with mine, tackling me to the ground.
"Oof! Chara get off of me!" I yelled.
Chara pinned me to the ground.
"I can't stay out of your guys lives! It was so difficult doing it these couple of months! I would always make it to the front door and I wanted to knock or just walk in but I thought that you guys would hate me."
"I don't hate you Chara! I could never hate you! I will always love you but what happened that day hurt me very bad." I started to cry.
"I didn't mean to hurt you! I left so I wouldn't hurt you! Granted... I stabbed you but that's besides the point! I can't believe you would even try something like that when you have so much to live for!" Tears streamed down Charas face.
I couldn't speak. Chara knew what I was gonna do. I felt ashamed.
All of the sudden, lips collided with mine. I let the kiss happen. I missed this.
"Hey kid you over here!" I heard sans voice yelling.
"Frisk dear! If you are out here please say something!" Toriel cried. Chara got off me and held out a hand.
"Come on! You don't want to get busted!" Chara chuckled. I smiled. I grabbed their hand and we ran in the opposite direction.
*30 minutes later*
Chara took me to this abandoned house that they have been staying at.
"I have to go back home sooner or later. Either way, sans and toriel will be mad..." I said.
"I'm coming with you then." Chara said, staring at me dead on.
"Aren't you worried of what they will think?"
"I was but it needs to happen. I have done some pretty messed up stuff and need to face my responsibilities."
I looked at Chara. They seemed determined to fix everything.
"Okay. Then we should leave soon..." I gave Chara a tight hug.

I missed you so much. I'm glad you're back!
