i just need you pt.2 || Cesar

i awoke to the sound of beeping & people talking. I saw Ruby and Cesar talking amongst themselves. I had this breathing tube thing that pumped air into my nose, my nose had a cast, and my eyebrow had a bandage. i realized i was in the hospital. I tried to move but everything hurt.

I winced at the pain. Cesar and Ruby heard and  quickly ran over to the hospital bed.

"Hey princesa. how you feeling?" Ruby questioned pushing the hair out of my face.

"I've had better days." i joked making both of them laugh a little.

"Why did you tell us?" Cesar asked obviously upset at the fact that i never told them about Veronica.

"Because i don't need anyone's help." i said trying to be tough.

"We could've helped you. We could've protected you. I could've protected you." Cesar whispered.

i sighed at the fact that i knew this could've been prevented but i was a stubborn child that didn't like the help of anyone.

At that moment Monse, Jamal, and my aunt walked into the room immediately bombarding me with love , concern, and affection. God these people were the best.

"We need someone with her at all times." Jamal suggested

"I agree. I can walker her fine her 1st period to 2nd & 3rd." Monse added

"And i can do-" Ruby was about to add

"Enough!" i shouted "I don't need you guys to be my personal bodyguards. I can't take care of myself. i was jumped that doesn't mean i'm defenseless. soy un Y/L/N."

Everyone stayed quiet which let me know that they understood.

I spent 3 days in the hospital and all 3 days Cesar was there. He would wake up early and wait in the waiting room until visiting hours started and would stay until the nurses kicked him out.

When i got home the squad was waiting inside with warm embraces ready.

they swarmed me like a bunch of bees, tightly wrapping me in a group hug.

"We have to hang out! Let go get something to eat?" Jamal suggested after letting me free.

I looked over at my aunt to see if it was alright with her. She nodded which gave me the okay.

I smiled at them and we all walked out of the house.

"I could've died!" Ruby exaggerated while telling us the story about a local gang member trying to talk to him.

"Oh i'm sure you could've Ruby." i rolled my eyes.

We had gotten to the convenient store and immediately Jamal and Ruby booked it inside ready to grab all the snacks and food they needed. Monse groaned and followed the two boys inside.

Cesar and i sat outside on the sidewalk and waited for our friends. He sat right next to me   and stared at me with a smile.

"What?" i asked while a smile.

"I missed seeing you smile a real smile." he said grabbing my hands. his voice was gentle like he was talking to a newborn baby.

i scoffed lightly turning my head so he wouldn't see how red my face was turning. God that boy made me melt.

At that moment Latrell was walking down the street. He caught sight of Cesar and I and began toward us.

"Damn Y/N even after getting the shit beat outta you you still looking fine as fuck." Latrell mumbled licking his lips.

"I may have got the shit beat outta me but that don't mean i'll ever give a bum ass dude like you a chance." i snarked standing up and walking towards the dark colored boy.

"Aye you better watch yo' mouth before i bust a cap in yo' ass like we did to yo' punk ass brother!" he barked stepping dangerously close to me and placing his hand on the waistband of his jeans.

"Latrell you better back up." Cesar threatened quickly standing up and stepping between the boy and I.

"And what are you gonna do? You Santos think y'all hard. you ain't shit. yo' broke ass friends ain't shit. yo' brother ain't shit. and soon that lil bitch of yours finna be mine." Latrell spat

"Don't call her a bitch!" The tall Latino boy shouted before letting his fists land on Latrell's face.

Latrell tried to hit him back but Cesar was so infuriated that he didn't give him the chance.

"Cesar stop!" i shouted trying to pull him off of the defenseless boy.

Ruby, Jamal, & Monse came out to where all the commotion was and realized what was happening.

Ruby ran over to help we get Cesar of off Latrell. Latrell got up and wiped the blood off his lip before saying "Watch your back Diaz." and walked away.

"What are you, an idiot?!" i shoved him angrily "You could've gotten hurt! Now Latrell is coming after you!"

He look at his feet then at me with apologetic eyes. "He talked about your brother and i know that you hate that... & he called you a bitch..." he whispered

I sighed knowing that he only did it to defend me. i hugged his torso. he wrapped his arms around my neck and placed his neck on my head.

"Y/N."Cesar said i could feel the words hum in his throat.

"Yes?" i asked still being held in his embrace.

"I want you. i'm tired of this long we're playing. i may not be safe but i'll go to the ends of the earth to protect you. i need you Y/N... i just need you..." he whispered holding me tighter, pulling me closer to his body.

"God you don't know how long i've been waiting for you to say that." i gushed looking up at him.

he retracted his arms from shoulders and cupped my face. he slowly lowered his face so that our lips were just centimeters away. i tried to reach up and connect our lips but he pulled back a little .

i groaned sick of the teasing he was doing. i pulled his black muscle shirt towards me and smashed my lips into his.

"About damn time!" Ruby said clapping along with Jamal and Monse.

I laughed grabbing a hold of Cesar's hand and walked back in the store to pay for the things we got.

we walked back to Ruby's house laughing, eat and having a great time like Cesar hadn't just gotten into a fight. I was happy, I had my best friends with me , my boyfriend, and i was safe and i wouldn't trade this moment for the world
