Chapter 13

~Brooklyn's~

The whole team seemed to be at Star Labs the next day. I gather that it was because of me. At least that's what it seems like with their eyes watch my ever move as I walk through the Zeta-beam along with M'gann.

The first thing I saw was the team gathered around Nightwing, looking at a screen of a familiar man.

Nightwing clears his throat to get his team's attention before continuing,"As I was saying, Mr.Brown, along with Mrs.Brown and their five year old daughter, went missing last night at approximately 12 p.m.-" he pauses and looks around at the confused faces in the rooms,"-Normally, this would not be a team mission and, in this case, it's not. But, do to Mr.Brown ties with Lex Luthor, Batman has requested that Batgirl, Robin, and myself look into this alone. That being said, it means that you will be on your own until the Williams family is found."

"You won't find them." I state, standing straight up as my gaze locks with Nightwing's.

"What do you mean we won't find them?" He says slowly.

"Because I hid them."

"You what?" He questions, walking toward me in a fast pace.

"I hid them." I repeat as if it were nothing. I walk passed him, but not before he grabs my wrist causing me to finch away from his touch.

"You went out last night?" His voice was laced with anger and exasperation as he looked to M'gann,"You let her out last night?"

"I-She promised me she won't hurt anyone. I figured she needed air after what you put her through!" Her tone starts out taken off guard before turning the tables on him.

"I didn't hurt anyone. Unlike you, I keep my promises." I break in between them, referencing the promise he broke and making my point all in one."The Williams family is more safe than they have been in the last ten years."

"Why should you be the one to judge that? Why would you even hide them?" He asks less angry than before, only because of the guilt he feels for the promise.

"I have my reasons." I turn away before he can ask me anything else,"Where is my team?"

He looks taken aback when I turn and look at him again,"You want to see your team?"

"That would be a reason for me to ask." I reply letting annoyance seep into my voice.

"You think you can just walk in here and make demands?" Batgirl says suddenly joining in.

"Yes. Your little team needs me. And if you don't give me my team, then I will find them on my own." My eyes boil into her mask, making her back down from starting anything with me.

"Your call." I lock eyes with Nightwing, forcing him to decide.

He pinches the bridge of his nose before sighing,"Superboy, Miss Martian, Wondergirl and Artemis."

They all understand as they turn to leave each one following the other.

I cross my arms over my chest and turn away from the group to wait.

I hear a heavy sigh behind me and then Nightwing say,"Call the league and explain what's happening."

Within minutes Batman, Wonder Woman, Catwoman, Hawkwoman and a few other leaguers were sitting in the room with us, watching my every move.

I soon hear the Zeta-Beam, making my head snap to it as well as everyone else's.

In walks my team, lead by Artemis and then the rest, Superboy being the last one in the room.
