<Brooke's>
My head pounds in an aching throb as my eyes flutter open and I come face to face with Kid Flash.
"Wh- Is he ok?" I question, more alert than I was before.
His face holds a slightly shocked look before he actually answer my question, "He is doing ok... the amount he was hit with was enough to over power his system. We are working on burning it out of his system..." He trails off as he studies my reaction before he says, "He will be ok."
I nod, my head still fogged as I turn my head.
"How are you feeling?" He questions still watching my movements carefully.
My eyes focus solely on what room I am in, the curtains and white sheets of the bed giving me a pretty good idea. The thing that really tells me is the steady beeping on a machine to my left.
"Where am I?" Despite my body screaming in protest, I push myself into a sitting position.
"Hey, take it easy..." He says trying to push me back down, "-you needed stitches and you lost a bit of blood before we were able to get you back here. Not too mention that you are physically pushing yourself to it's breaking point. And none of this is good for the baby."
I send him a look, which causes him to break into a smile.
"I'm just kidding. Thought it would lighten the mood." He explains, his smile fading a bit as he continues, "But everything else I said was true. I read your file and you were basically fighting on fumes when we got to you, and you fainted as soon as you knew you would be ok."
"I remember." Is all I get out, my voice slightly dry as I attempt to take out the IV that is taped to me.
"Hey, hey." He says stopping me, "Did you not just listen to anything I said?"
"Why are you here?" I snap, my vision slightly blurring at my sudden head movement to meet his eyes. "Why are you here? Your best friend is drowning in drugs right now and you are in my room. Why?"
"Because I am his best friend and all he has been asking about slight he woke up is where you are." He admits, his eyes showing how worried he actually is for his friend. "He was saying something about how they were going to get you... do you understand that?"
My jaw clenches as I look away from him and stare at the wall in front of me. Yeah, I know why he is saying that; it's because they were going to get me and he was stupid enough to sacrifice himself for me.
"He taught me how to tell if you know something." He says matter of factly. "And what you just did is exactly what one of your telling signs is."
I roll my eyes, but I keep them glued to my lap as I say, "It was supposed to be me in his place. He was an idiot and put himself between the dart and I."
He was quiet for a few moments until he breathes out and stands up. "The others are in there with him... do you want to go see him?"
"No." I refuse immediately causing him to frown.
"If it's the others then-"
"No. Not right now." I decline again, but pause and look up at him, "But I could use a chance to stretch my legs. Is there any where for me to wait until everyone else leaves?"
He smiles slight as he says, "You can wait outside his door if you want. There are benches out there for visitors."
I nod, allowing him to help me get onto my feet before I pick at my IV again.
