Glitched (a Sword Art Online Fatal Bullet fanfic)

What?!?

I flew over the meeting spot. The gang was there, minus Leafa (for obvious reasons), but they seemed worried. With amazing grace, I slammed into the ground, showing off just how awesome I was at landing. My entrance made Klein jump.

"Whagh! Jeeze, Aviator, you scared the crud outta me."

I chuckled. "Sorry. Anyways, Leafa's held up with some kinda mission. Wait, where's Asuna?"

They grew somber and I watched Kirito draw his sword out of the corner of my eye. He gripped it tight and walked up a huge flight of stairs. I turned to look at him better and I noticed that he was talking, but to who? Two massive statues raised their blades and a set of massive doors opened and Kirito vanished inside. They slammed shut and the group began to freak out.

Leafa floated down to the ground. "Hey, guys! Kirito and Asuna have gone off on their own again, have they?"

I flew up the stairs and tried entering the tree. The statues spoke to me.

"You may not undertake the Grand Quest at the present moment. It is already in progress."

I cursed. "Let me in, darn it! My friend's in there!"

The statues answered with something I wasn't expecting. "You may enter only if you accept the Grand Quest. Do you accept?"

"YES!"

The doors swung open to reveal hundreds of enemies in the process of returning to their spawn-points. They turned to face me and I noticed a black fire half-way up the tower. One of the guardians got a lucky shot off and the arrow clipped my shoulder, making me grimace. I flew up with every ounce of speed I had and grabbed Kirito's Remain Light. My speed carried me higher as I accessed my inventory to grab an item to revive my friend. I noticed a guardian change its target and I looked down to see my friends charging into battle.

I grabbed a Yggdrasil Drop I had and let it drip onto Kirito, reviving him in an inferno of black fire. I carried Kirito with me as I made a bolt for the top. The two of us slammed into the gate and it refused to open. Kirito cursed and slashed it in anger.

"WHY! WHY WON'T YOU OPEN!"

I looked in the top left to see my name glitch again. A voice that was neither male nor female whispered in my ear.

"This quest is unbeatable. This breaks the 'entertaining' subroutine. Granting Privileges to ID Aviator. Good luck."

I touched the gate and everyone got teleported to a wooden hall. A warning that we were in a "no-flying zone" fashed in the top of our vision. Warily, I led the group through dozens of halls before we stumbled upon an oversized bird-cage. And the "bird" inside?

It was Asuna.

I tapped the door to the cage and it vanished. Kirito rushed in and the two embraced. It was short-lived, however.

The world turned black and a familiar man came into view.

"Death Word."
