Chinese New Year is a festival marking the start of the New Year, beginning on the second new moon after the winter solstice and ending on the full moon fifteen days later. Everything was pretty, and everyone was fake, facades were put on and lion suits worn.

The Chinese imperial lions were positioned as if they were guarding the temple and keeping watch, then froze in stone to look after it forever.

The foreign building was intriguing as the golden Chinese characters spelt out vertically across the red pillars which held up colourful and vibrant drawings of dragons and cultural roofs that curved and pointed at the tips.

Stood at the edge of the temple, Rachel and her family found it hard to even enter. She was rubbing past sweaty, hungry and determined people just to get in. The Chinese New Year had accumulated the entire population of Cabramatta. Bonnyrigg's finest Buddhist temple was overflowing.
