I have assignments to finish and homework, I have better things to do right now. So why was Rachel there.

Her father didn't take the hint of her continuous yawns. Which struck up a conversation.

"Dad, we shouldn't be here." Saying this finally brought off some weight from her shoulders.

"What?" He snubbed, clearly hearing what she desired.

"Rachel, why do you have to be like this, we are just celebrating, c'mon let loose girl!" He said as her hooked his left arm around her neck and, gratingly patting her on her right shoulder, as if to knock some sense into her.

"No, you don't understand!" Rachel exhaled exasperatedly. All she saw was red, "You've lost your path dad!!"

The conversation was blown off, as the fireworks cast across the speckled canvas sky.

Fireworks were thrown to frighten away evil spirits and keep a dangerous beast called Nian, who doesn't like noises or the colour red. So why was Rachel scared? She felt the vibrations of the fireworks under the soles of her feet.

The colourful creations in the sky hypnotised everybody, tilting their heads back to watch explosions, leaving "wows" and gasps left the tips off people's mouths.
