One might find odd that in the heat of 1832, that fateful year, there were more than a few hearts ablaze. Passion consumed all; yet passion seemed to tear them apart not only physically, but mentally. The passion of revolution, the passion of love; they were nearly indiscernible. Whereas, Marius's passionate love for Cossette proved to be his savior (albeit in the form of Jean Valjean and Monsieur Thernadier), the Friends of the ABC met their end with their passionate love in the name of revolution. But, another heart was lost that year; a heart that took little part in the revolution, but witnessed the events at the barricades. Rue Saint-Michele became her nightmare and even in her withered age, she would avoid it.
