Dear Friend,

I restored a few paintings for my brother, nothing professional but it did the job; it would be a scary task to restore master pieces, I assume, but somebody has to do it, right? Everyone's a critic, or so it is said, but a professional restorer would be an interesting job, and I am sure you're more than qualified with your love of music to have been a music critic, another job that has mixed returns. I am surprised that people seemed more attracted to the few abstracts I have painted. Picasso is quoted as saying in the new National Geographic series "Genius" as telling his father "I paint what I see." That is/was me, I paint what I see, but now I am learning to paint what I don't see, relying more on my muses, a scary thing, but you can't be told that it looks good until you find the mistakes. Picasso's early works were extremely good, very realistic paintings, but could be criticized, so he moved outside the box, where you either like it or you don't. I was alive while he was still painting, still creating. His work to me seemed crazy with no appeal, but now I adore it, adore the genius in him. He was a man who listened to his own voice. I hope you listen to your voice; the next go around that voice may be your muse speaking across time.

Love, peace, and freedom.

Olan
