I looked away as the door slammed, I knew he was gone. I was never going to see my dad again. I climbed onto my bed, my mom came in. She saw my eyes, filled with tears and she walked over.
"Mommy?" She kneeled beside me.
"What is it, hunny bee?" Her voice was so comforting then.
"Is another truck coming to our driveway? One that'll take mommy away?"
She held my hand and looked into my eyes. "Your mom isn't going anywhere, your mom is staying right here, no matter what, I'll be here." And Her promise was kept.
