After a few moments of keeping my greens eyes closed, I unwillingly opened them. My heart stopped.
I knew those eyes like my own. I had found myself lost in them too many times, and this was another one of those moments. After six painful months full of tears, none other than Captain Killian Jones was standing fifty feet away.
Our eyes were locked on each other, and tears were filling them.
He smiled, really and truly smiled. I saw him mouth, "swan." To my surprise, he didn't look upset or angry to see me. He looked relieved, happy, and full of regret.
His smile made me want to run into his arms and kiss him senseless. But was I ready to let him back in? After all, he left me without goodbye, and put me through the same pain that I had to endure thirteen years ago.
But unlike the others, he came back. That was enough for me.
I took a few steps forward as gasps escaped the lips of a few people, but I didn't care.
"Killian?" I whispered quietly.
He flashed me another smile as the tears flowed slowly from his eyes, nodding.
And at that, I couldn't take it anymore.
I ran off the platform, ignoring the whispers and murmurs that came from the crowd. The happy tears didn't stop, and for once, I didn't want them to.
I ran straight down the middle of the room, people parting once again as I pinched myself to make sure I wasn't dreaming.
Killian's back. He's really back.
He saw me running towards him, and met me halfway. "Killian," I breathed as we stood less than a foot away from each other.
Not hesitating to close the gap between us, I pulled his lips to mine with a smile.
I missed the smell of him; the rum and ocean were fresh on his leather.
My hands tangled in his soft and silky black hair as I remembered just how much I loved kissing him.
I grinned against the kiss, trying to pull him closer to me. I grabbed the lapels of his jacket, but there was no space left between us. Our bodies were perfectly molded together. I couldn't believe how I had lived apart from him for one hundred eighty two days.
Finally, we pulled apart, both gasping for air.
He spoke first. "Emma, I am so sorry. I don't know why I left, I was angry, but I have never regretted anything so much in my life. I-"
I silenced him with a kiss, but pulled away quickly. I wrapped my arms around his waist, and he did the My head laid on his chest, and I closed my eyes. Oblivious to the people around us, it felt like it was just Killian and I. I forgot there were over five hundred people here, people that we both knew, and one of which was my boyfriend.
But not for long.
"Killian... It's over now. I'm just glad you're back. I love you." I opened my eyes for just a second to see his reaction.
His eyes shone with love and admiration—something I had missed—but also a bit of surprise.
He kissed the top of my head, and I smiled, closing my eyes. "I love you too, my beautiful Emma."
We held each other for a minute. I still had a few tears spilling out of my eyes. This was definitely the happiest day of my life.
"I still don't see how I was away from you for all this time," Killian said, and I let out a tear-filled laugh.
"I think there are ways to make up for the lost time," I answered, kissing him again.
He ran a hand up and down my back, and grinned against my lips. "I can think of a few," he smirked, wiggling his eyebrows, and I couldn't help but laugh."
Suddenly, our happy moment was ended by Prince Edward. He pulled me away from Killian, and looked him angrily in the eye. "What do you think you are doing with my girlfriend?"
Killian looked dumbfounded and shook his head. "Your girlfriend? Mate did you not just hear her say that she loved me? I'll bet you she's never said that to you," he shot back, practically laughing at Edward.
Edward's face flushed, and I half smirked at Edward's loss of words.
"Who are you anyway?" Killian looked at Edward skeptically, and Edward practically snarled his name back to him.
"I don't exactly enjoy being in the company of pirates. So, if you would kindly leave before it gets any messier, Hook."
Killian smirked, "that's captain to you sir. And if I leave, I'll be taking the lady with me." He held his hook up, growling under his breath.
Edward gulped, and leaned his head backwards. I grabbed Killian's hand, but his gaze never strayed from Edward.
The prince scowled, but fear was still plastered across his features. "What makes you think she'd want to go with you?"
Killian scowled. "That's it," he hissed, but I pulled him back, pushing him behind me.
"Edward," I started, turning back to look at Killian. I noted and remembered all the things I had missed, and he didn't come back with some smart remark... He looked at me lovingly.
I didn't know how to continue. My mother once told me that the pain of the truth can sometimes be easier to take than the realization that someone has lied to you. I could tell the truth... But the truth sounded awful.
How would I lie about this, though?
Edward stared at me, probing me for an answer, and finally, I knew what to say.
"Edward, you are a wonderful man, and have been so good to Henry and I. You stuck by our sides and were like his father. I tried my hardest to love you, I really did. But, I couldn't. I wanted to get over Killian, but I realized my heart will always belong to him. I didn't mean to lead you on like that. I'm sorry. Edward, we just aren't meant to be."
His face paled, but he forced a smile. "So that's it then?"
I nodded.
He sighed. "I'm glad you're happy, Emma. But if I'm being honest... I knew. You were so far away from me that we never really connected. But I'm glad you've found your happy ending."
He came over, kissing my cheek. "Bye, princess." Then, he walked off.
My face tinted a bit at the gesture. I felt a little bad, but I sprang back into Killian's arms, holding him close. He did the same towards me, occasionally dropping a kiss on my head.
I ran the events of the day through my head. How did I become so happy in less than five minutes? It was because Killian was there. I loved him so much, and I did not intend on letting him go ever again.
I felt a tap on my shoulder. I turned around to see my dad.
He smiled, but I could tell he was concealing anger. "Emma, do you mind if I talk to Hook for a moment?"
I glanced back to Killian who looked nervous, but I shook my head.
Killian panicked, but muttered, "evening Dave," before turning his gaze to the ground.
"Come on, pirate," he said over his shoulder.
Killian scowled at me. "I hate you, Swan. Your dad's gonna skin me alive," he whispered to me before joining my father.
I giggled as Charming led him out into the hallway. "Good luck."
