The first time I looked into your eyes
I dared not blink, they were green with a hint of blue
The ring of color surrounding your pupils slowly extending to the end of this universe
I could feel my breath hitch Feel time coming to a stop I've seen blue eyes, brown eyes, green eyes, heck even aqua coloredYet, yours were my favorite If I could look at them all day I would do it without giving it a second thought I would get to see the way your lashes intertwine as you blink
The way in which your lids shut momentarily shutting me out Then open making my day, my heart now beating as fast a hummingbird's wings
Would dangerously thump against my chest I'd steady my breath and hope that you haven't noticed
I'd pray to God, if there's one, to never take the shine away You smiled and swept your hair back as the wind blew into the empty classroom
God, give him to me I'll cherish him, and love him forever I'd protect him to the ends of this earth Don't take the shine away Make him look only at me Oh God! That's all I ask you Don't take him away from me I need him.
The bell rang, and whatever momentarily eye-contact we had was broken.
I felt my eyes roll back as I collapsed.
"God I am ready to pay the final prize!"
I heard feet thumping, and a deep voice call me.
I couldn't help but smile.
"I like your eyes."
"I know. They're my grandmother's eyes, it skipped a generation, and I got them instead. "
I nodded. "The rings especially."
"Rings?" He helped me up. "You need sleep."
I laughed it off, He and I will always be best friends.
