I look around the glade and feel depressed. Being the glade mom, the boys often come to me for help and guidance and that's great, don't get me wrong, but that left me with no one to talk too. There's also a lot of pressure to say and do all the things a mother would, to try and fill that roll they crave and need but are deprived of.

At least I have Thomas I think to myself. Thomas, my wonderful boyfriend, is always there to listen or give advice. He'd make time for me even when he was busy and he'd always be ready with a hug or better yet, a kiss. But he wasn't a girl. Sometimes you need a girl to sympathize with, to talk to, and to generally understand. I sigh again but this time Thomas hears me.

"What's up, sweetheart?" He asks me.

"Oh it's nothing, just some wishful thinking is all," I reply as I continue planting seeds.

"Please will you tell me? I think it would be good for you," Thomas replies gently.

"You shouldn't spend your day off from the maze hearing about my problems," I smile at him.

"But I care about you and wish to hear what's on your mind," he says seriously, getting up from the tree stump he was on and coming over to me.

He begins helping me with the gardening and ask one last time, "Please, Y/n?"

"Oh, alright," I sigh. "I just have a lot of pressure to be the mom the boys need me to be. I sit with them when they're sick, I check up on them when they're hurt, and I listen to them and give them hope when they have none. I just wish that I could have a girl companion to talk with and get advice from is all," I confide.

Thomas frowns thoughtfully. "Maybe the creators will send up another girl for you. I know they're watching us somehow; they see you alone. Maybe they'll have compassion?" Thomas says but it's more like a question.

I laugh in true amusement. "Thomas, you're talking about the people who put kids in captivity. I don't think they're going to care about one lonely person. Besides, I'm content with you."

He smiles. "And I with you."

I smile at him as he helps pull me up.

"It's getting close to dinner time. I need to write down some things I need from the creators before the box goes down. Will you save me a seat?" He asks hopefully.

"I'll even grab you some food," I smile and kiss him swiftly.

As soon as the glade found out about Thomas and I being together, Alby made it clear that public displays of affection were not tolerated. So to make up for that rule, I often give him quick kisses when no one is looking. Thomas termed them his runner kisses. He always gets a goofy smile on his face when I give them to him and today is no exception.

He smiles lopsidedly and then jogs quickly towards the box.

I head into the homestead, grab Thomas's and my food, and find a seat by Minho. He's the child that needs the most discipline.

"Was someone a good boy today?" I coo.

"Only when people were looking," he smirks.

"Minho," I cry dramatically and put a hand over my heart. "I thought I taught you better than that!"

"Sorry, mom," he says cheekily, "but you know I only listen to myself and my hormonal desires."

I laugh so hard I snort.

"What's so funny?" Thomas asks coming up to the table.

"Minho said he, mph!"

Minho had thrown his hand across my mouth and began to talk with Thomas about his day off.
