I AM SO SORRY

Thanatos

This, is unexpected.

I watched as Hayes stood, his skin glowing with power.

As he stood there in a daze, I asked him.

"So, how much stronger are you now?"

He turned to me, still dazed.

"I don't know, 3 maybe four times stronger?"

I felt my eyebrows rise in surprise.

"Well that is a bit extreme, most only have their power increased by 2 or 3 times."

"Really?"

"Yes." I pause for a while wondering how to word the next statement.

"Hayes, you do know what god I am of right?"

"Hmm?" He tilts his head. "Yeah, you're the Greek god of death."

"You're not entirely correct. I am the Greek god of peaceful death."

He froze. "What?"

I sigh. "I am the Greek personification of peaceful death, the ones in charge of violent death are my sisters, the Keres."

".........So you're telling me I can't kill?"

"What?" I ask, slightly startled. "No, it's just as my chosen, you are to hold yourself to a few rules."

"And you didn't tell me before?"

"......Forgive me, I forgot." I say, slightly embarrassed.

He sighs. "Well, might as well face the music, what are the rules?"

I prepare myself. "First rule, you are to not prolong the suffering of anyone. Which means in combat, you are to immediately aim to kill your target, not to play around in combat."

"Alright, sounds simple enough."

"Second, as my chosen, you will see when it is a mortal's time to go across the Styx into the Underworld, and you are to not interfere with the process of life and death."

"You mean, if I am to see anyone who's time has come, I am to not help?"

"Yes."

"That....is going to be a bit harder."

I nod, feeling sympathetic as I understand his thoughts on this.

"Any extra rules I should know?"

"Well, you also have to help bring the the souls of the dead to Charon, but other than that, no other rules."

"Anything other than the rules I should know?"

"......Thank you for reminding me." I say as I resist smacking my head for nearly forgetting the most important thing.

"So what is it?"

"As my chosen, you are also granted several abilities connected to me."

His eyes glittered with some excitement. "And they are?"

I take a deep breath as I prepare to list them all.

"First, you are able to kill anything. Be they mortal, god, or even the creators themselves. As long as you deal enough damage to their forms, they will die. Next, being in an area where a huge number of individuals die, such as war zones or graveyards will empower you, this ability is in effect for as long as you stay in the location. During a huge battle, you are also empowered by the deaths you cause, but that one is temporary. You can use the energy expelled from someone upon their death as your own, using in any way you can think of. From force fields, impromptu weapons or anything to be honest." I take a deep breath, a 'breather' as the mortals call it. "You are also able to teleport within a 25 km radius. Another thing, all of those who are chosen by gods gain the ability to translate any language to your native tongue. So in your case, when you are reading, let's say Russian, it immediately turns into English."

I lift my gaze up to see his reaction, to see him just staring into space.

That was probably too much for him to take in at once.

"What in Chaos happened to him?"

I turn to see Hades had come back in.

"I told him what abilities he received as my chosen."

Hades chuckled at that.

"That would certainly cause that reaction."
