thunderclap

15 1 1

she's a child of the shadows
born and raised in the unkindest of places
and yet she carries a kindness and a poise
too deep to describe.

she does no harm
but takes nothing lying down.
she stands up for her family
even when they don't do the same for her.

she's a dark beauty
with hair pink like faded blood
and a love for the ordinary.
she snaps pictures of people as they are
moments frozen in time
and sees things as they could be.

she charges into the hurricane with all her might
and the force creates a sound that shakes bones.
a thunderclap that overtakes senses.

she cares not for her own safety
only to change lives
even if the only ones she saves are that one girl
that has never been anything less than awful to her
and herself,

because she sees things as they could be.

and she sees love, life, and deep sorrow in that girl's eyes.
