Mr. Collins and my mom were arguing in the common room. I don't like it when they argue.
Mr. Collins was always there for us. When we first came, my little sister Aisha used to cry for hours. I did too. Mr. Collins would hold us close, and tell us 'Everything was going to be okay'.
My mom was in an emotional stage, and he was there for us when she couldn't be.
I can't blame her. Imagine being a single parent whose spouse just died, and who had seven kids! Bilal started doing small jobs at the age of 11. Nisreen pretended she didn't care. I cried. For days on end. And Mr. Collins was always there.
