A.K.A, Moon Lovers. Although it is an adaptation of a Chinese novel and a drama, it embraces the Korean culture, while respecting the storyline of the book in a very appealing manner. And trust me when I say this, this story has more issues than Vogue, no kidding. Insanity, and not in the negative way. Absolutely insane drama, love, tragedy, finely portrayed at that. Every episode leaves you begging for more. The cliffhanger after every episode will make you want to stay awake nights together to complete the series.
It perfectly encompasses all sorts of emotions - love, hatred, hunger for power, desperation, cruelty - you name it.
Our prettiest IU, the female lead for those unfamiliar with her, is met with 13, yes THIRTEEN *wide eyes*, princes, when she travels back in time of the Goryo dynasty after meeting with an accident in the modern day, and a total eclipse happens right when she dives into the lake, which BTW adds drama to the story. The 13 princes don't make her life any easier, I must say, and not because they are cruel to her, but because she's close to almost every one of them, almost every one.
Due to some uneventful situations, she ends up becoming a court lady from a princesses sister...not just that, 4 of the princes end up falling for her, and that doesn't act in her favor most of the time.
Although, there will be times when you question the female protagonist's actions, but I guess we got to respect the story, and honestly, if she hadn't done what she did, the drama wouldn't have worked. *Shrugs*
I don't want to spoil the story for y'all, so you'll have to go ahead and watch it for yourself ;).
In all honesty, it is one of the finest dramas of it's kind. I could pull an all nighter to re-watch this drama, again! The ending of this drama, is one major majore cliffhanger. Does it have a second season? Do they meet? What happens? Does he recognize her? No one knows! And that's what make this drama historic, quite literally.
