under the cover of moonlight

It was a cold summer night,
She was in her bedroom.
A duster she wore,
Cold air blew from the door.

She was expecting a baby,
It was coming real soon.
Suddenly feeling a kick,
In her stomach that was a balloon.

It started to hurt.
As she was walking out the door,
Although she didn't get very far.
Stumbling, falling onto the concrete floor.

She was starting to go under labor,
Townsfolk rushing in for assistance.
Helping her push.
Bringing the baby into existence.

The bright yellow glow of the street lamp.
Was the only light they had.
As the first cry broke,
Silenced the townsfolk.

There it was.
Silence was a sign of joy,
Resting in her loving embrace.
It was a boy.

A boy she'd tell stories to.
About the night,
He was born under the cover of moonlight.
Tucking him in,
And kissing him goodnight.

A/N

Inspiration came from when I watched the news one night and I saw the news about a woman going under labor in the middle of the street and was pretty interested. It happened at night by the way (hence the title).

It even said that the mother was excited to tell stories to her newborn about how he was born in the middle of the freaking street. (very interesting thing to talk about with your kid)
