I
have never seen the sea.and yet I live
as ifI am below
the silk of the wavesas if reality itself
is refractedaccording to
the whims of sunlightas if I stretch
my fingers upwardtowards the shifting
reflections abovemy hair floating
above my facemy eyes
flutter shutthe call of the ocean
I do not knowrushes like thunder
when you placea seashell to your ear
listening for mermaidsI am under the water
but I do not drownsinking deeper
into the callnot knowing quite
what I'm looking foronly that I'm willing
to go to the ends of the earthto search for sirens
even if I end up empty-handed.
