chapter three || 003
'it's only the beginning'
I can't keep taking the Harley without a set of keys. I know I don't care about having to hot wire it to get it going but other people sure will. And if what I'm picking up about this town is right then they surely will.
The four musketeers were leading me to Pop's dinner. Jughead says that I'm gonna like it there but he can't be too sure.
The three signal a right turn and I follow behind as they pull up into a parking lot. They all park their bikes and head in except for Fangs. I guess he was about to find out that this isn't my bike after all.
None of them saw me start up the bike, they came a little after I got out of my last class.
Dropping the kickstand down and getting off the Harley I bend down to undo the wires that made my ride work. I could definitely see Fangs form the corner of my eye taking a peek at what I was doing.
"Wait, it's not yours?" He wasn't judging. Just trying to clear things up. I could sense it in the tone of his voice.
Nodding as I finish up I stand on my feet again and take off my helmet. "Had to do a lot of things to get here to Riverdale." I moved to the back of the bike and lifted up the seat compartment and packed the helmet inside.
"Hey I won't judge." His hands shoot up and he shot me a warm smile.
Maybe Riverdale wasn't that bad.
Closing the compartment I started walking into the dinner with Fangs by my side. The bell chimed as I opened the door and I took it all in.
This place was really retro. I mean it's not the fifties anymore but this place really could bring a person back. Not me, seeing as I wouldn't benefit from that.
Fangs tapped me lightly by my shoulder making me look back at him. He pointed to the front counter and nodded, then went to join his friends in a booth. I took in a little breath and walked my way over to the counter.
A man, dressed in old dinner clothes and a smile was waiting for me.
"You must be Diana, FP told me that you'd coming in. How you doing sweetheart?" he asked, the smile never leaving his face as he did. Was it weird that I felt this sort of safeness around him, like I did with FP?
I smiled back. "I'm good. So, how do I apply for the job. And what exactly do you need me for? I'm good at anything with a little practice." I sat down on the stool and patiently waited for his instruction.
Pop- that can't actually be his name- went behind the counter and pulled out a piece of paper and a pen. "Fill this out best you can, and I'll let you know as soon as I can." He nodded to me once again before taking off to the back of the dinner.
My fingers grabbed the pen and clicked it.
This would probably be the best job I ever had. Let's not screw this up now Diana.
All the basic stuff is here, name, age, etc. I easily scribbled all that in. Then came the more personal stuff like my social security number, health insurance, emergency contact.
Date of Birth.
He said fill it in the best I could.

Fangs and Sweet Pea were doing some weird boy thing that involved throwing punches on each other's shoulders. That was on their side of the booth. Poor Jughead was stuck in the middle of it but typing away on his laptop.
Me and Toni were on the other side of the booth. Thank heavens. I had to take my jacket off though it was too hot for me in this dinner.
"So Diana how is Riverdale treating you? Southside making you feel all warm inside?" this was a joke we both knew this. I giggled as she laughed to herself.
"It's making me feel something alright, but it's not too bad." I shrugged and looked out the window. Checking on my bike really. If anyone with a good eye were to spot my bike I'd be taking public transportation in Riverdale.
The bell chimed again and I was curious to see who else spends their time here. I was greeted with the sight of a group of boys, in letterman jackets. Jocks? Wow this town was like a walking cliche.
"Diana!" I heard my name being shouted by Pop and I flew out of my seat.
Traveling past the jocks that just came in and to the front counter I took a seat. Pop was there, my paper in his hands with a empathetic look on his face. Did I not get the job? Did I just lose a possibly good thing here?
"You can start tomorrow if you'd like." He smiled, making me let out a breath of relief.
I held my hand of my heart. "Oh my god! I thought I didn't get it!" Chuckling I watched as he took the paper and placed somewhere underneath the counter. "Thank you so much! I won' let you down!"
He smiled back at me and waved me goodbye.
I practically skipped over to the booth I was in and landed with a jump on the seat.
"I'm guessing you got the job?" Sweet Pea asked. But he wasn't really asking, that sarcastic little shit.
Toni looked at me along with Fangs and Jughead for the answer as well.
"Yeah I did." I had to bite back a laugh as Fangs held his hand out for a high five and Toni patted me on the shoulder.
"What did you put for your social security? And your health insurance?" Jughead pestered and I waited a second to respond.
What was he on about? I don't ever remember telling him anything about my past. I know I can accidentally let some things slip at times but I hadn't-
"I left it blank. Seeing as I don't know any of it." Who doesn't know their social security number by now? If they don't catch on to my act now I might start to think that I'm a good liar.
