After Georgie had disappeared to talk with Fenwick had planned on not talking. From what Georgie had told him, neither of the Black Brothers seemed very trustworthy and to wake up from his bubble of love and find out she'd struck up a fast random friendship with one was very suspicious. However, within a few seconds, irritation at Regulus's reaction to his blood status boiled over and he found himself speaking anyway.

"So, how does it feel knowing Georgie's best friend is a muggleborn?" His tone was jovial but not amount of jokiness could hide the genuine irritation lurking underneath.

Regulus didn't reply for a bit, "She can be friends with whomever she pleases. We're friends I'm not her owner, neither are you."

Of all the answers Fenwick had been expecting, this was by far the least antagonistic possibility, "You don't think she's corrupted or anything? I've managed to find out a little bit about your ... group and they seem to think any affiliation with ... people like me is wrong."

It looked like Regulus was having a very hard time holding his tongue, his handsome face slightly scrunched up. Somehow in the space of one deep breath, he managed to release it, "I ..."

"Go on."

"Like I said, she can be friends with whoever she wants. It doesn't affect our friendship, and I certainly don't have to be friends with you."

Fenwick snapped his fingers, "So you are prejudiced, I knew it!"

"You just wanted me to slip up," Regulus smiled faintly, "But I'm careful, Fenwick, you really think I'd say anything that might jeopardise my friendship with her? I'll stick with my official line, she can be friends with whomever she pleases. Don't you agree?"

Even though Regulus appeared calm and calculated, there had been a slight tremor in his voice which caught Fenwick by surprise. He had no idea what Regulus Black was thinking, the boy was a mystery.

"Yeah," Fenwick took a sip of his butterbeer, scanning around for Georgie but having no luck, "If I had a problem with her being friends with you, I wouldn't say it either..."

"Good," Regulus replied, staring forwards.

"At least she's not a muggleborn, right?" Fenwick half-joked, "She's pureblood so you can be friends with her, isn't that the Slytherin way?"

"Stop it," Regulus said, suddenly looking down at his drink. Whether it was purely out of irritation or shame because he knew that Fenwick was right, he wasn't sure, "Anyway, you can hardly lecture me on prejudice. She told me about how the other Gryffindors ostracised her when they heard of her affiliations."
