"Y-" I stutter. I can't find the right words for this moment. Any words. Leah set this up?
I feel tears gathering in my eyes. I don't really know what I'm feeling, but judging by the look on Alex's face she knows what I'm feeling. She steps toward me, like she wants to wrap me in a hug, but pauses.
"I probably can't say the right thing to you right now, but can I hug you, at least? Like I said, if you don't like me, I get that," she says.
She gives me a weak smile. I nod, not wanting to talk out of fear of breaking down into sobs. She steps toward me and wraps her arms around me. I notice her shirt smells like soy sauce. I can't help but grin a little.
"I knew I liked girls," I say.
I immediately break down crying into her shoulder. I knew I shouldn't have said anything. I hear a door behind me open and multiple footsteps entering the room. Alex gently pats my back.
"Leah," I wheel around, pulling away from Alex for the moment. Leah looks shocked, like she expects me to slap her.
"Thank you, you jerk," I say, pulling her into a hug. Leah smiles.
"Looks like your ten dates really did prove you're a flaming lesbo," Brent winks. I bet all three of them were in on setting this up. "But we just wanted to be totally sure, y'know."
"I hate you all," I laugh, pulling away from Leah and wiping away my tears. "I really hate you all."
"You'll get over it," Ari says, sticking her tongue out at me. "Now that you're all emotionally drained, are you ready to go tell your parents?"
