Dearest Diary,

We are told to stay in hiding at home.

Bombings have become regular at Homs, we use our basement as our bombing shelter.

God knows how strong it is. The only thing we can do is pray that nothing happens to us while in there.

I get nightmares when I hear a plane flying overhead. I am scared of them dropping a bomb on our house.

Sadly, some of the houses around us weren't as lucky and were flattened.

Sometimes when we think it is too dangerous to sleep above our basement, we get everything we need an decide to make a makeshift small house in our basement.

Creative!

I, am however, am getting a bit sad that I haven't got mail from my friends or family members who have escaped the city. Hopefully they are getting things done over there.

I hear mama, dad, and grandma talking about moving. I don't wanna move from here. This is my home and I stand my ground.

But of course, I can't do anything because this war is getting a bit out of hand.

Signed living in the basement,

Haitham (Signature inserted!)

p.s. Please may I not move?
