Orpheus,
Was a lover of words.
Lover of songs,
Lover of Eurydice.
With each song he sang with the birds
he gave a piece of his heart to them
As they flew along.
With each song recalling his lost love he sang the poetry he could not live in.
Waiting for the day to be reunited with her.
He thought the problem was that with his lover was already dead,
That his heart would remain frozen.
Recalling the days he wasted away,
Singing about love that wasn't his own.
As his heart could never love another.
The problem with Orpheus, was that
He spent so much time loving someone unreachable.
That he forgot to love himself.
