The Next Morning

It was yet another morning on the S.S Friendship. Everyone was talking with their friends and watching the calm, ocean waves. Seagulls were flying overhead, squawking. Reginald was steering the ship because Hatty told him about his plans and Reginald understood him. With a lump in Hatty's throat, he nervously walked up to Ferrin. "Oh, hi Hatty!" Ferrin greeted. "H-hi Ferrin!" Hatty said nervously. "Wait, aren't you supposed to be steering the ship today?" Ferrin asked Hatty. He felt a shiver crawl up his spine. "A-ah.. Actually, I'm h-here because I-I want to ask you something!" Hatty stuttered. "What is it?" Ferrin asked. "W-will you.. Will you-" Hatty was suddenly interrupted by the S.S Friendship being stopped dead in it's tracks. Ferrin was about to fall over, but Hatty caught her. The rest of Hatty's friends were scared and confused. "Calm down everyone!" Hatty said. Reginald ran out. "What happened?!" He asked. Hatty looked at his Step-father. "I-I don't know!" He said. Then Hatty noticed something. The seagulls had stopped squawking. When Hatty looked up to see them, they were flying away, looking frightened. Hatty got even more worried. He looked around, trying to take his surroundings in. Then suddenly, the S.S Friendship jerked forward a little, everyone almost losing their balance again. Hatty and Reginald tried to catch them. Then a furry, orange paw grabbed the railing of the S.S Friendship. Ferrin called Hatty's name to alert him. When Hatty looked and saw the orange paw, a sharp sense of fear striked into him like a dagger. Then, another orange paw grabbed onto the railing, and before anyone knew it, up bursted an orange cat. It was a cat guard from the old theater that the S.S Friendship once came across. "Finally..." The cat guard said, with an evil smirk on his face. "A CAT GUARD!!!" Everyone cried. Hatty stood there, as goosebumps appeared on his pale, white skin. Flashbacks of what happened back at the theater ran through his mind. Hatty couldn't believe it. One of the people, no, animals, that hurt him and his friends, was now staring at him in the face. Hatty couldn't move, he was frozen in place. Ferrin broke the silence by asking the cat guard, "What do you want?!" The cat guard looked at Ferrin and slowly walked up to her. Hatty watched, fearing for his best friend's life. The cat guard looked directly at Ferrin and told her, "I want your so-called 'Leader' dead." Hatty's heart dropped in his chest. He couldn't believe what he had just heard. Mom bravely ran up to Hatty and tried to snap him out of his trance. After doing so, Hatty panicked and tried his best to come up with a plan. "What are we going to do, Hatty?!" Mom asked him. "I'm trying to think up something!!" Hatty replied in a panicked tone. Everyone was interrupted when Ferrin yelled, "WHAT HAS HATTY EVER DONE TO YOU?!?!" At the cat guard. Hatty looked back at Ferrin, intrigued by what she had just said. The cat guard looked at her angrily and said in a firm tone, "He screwed us over when he became our Boss because didn't pay us!" Ferrin walked up closer to the cat guard and said, "Listen here you giant cat! I'm not letting you harm Hatty or a single crewmember on this ship as long as I'm here!" Hatty felt proud of Ferrin after hearing what she had just said. He hasn't heard anyone care about his friends as much as Ferrin did for a long time. But his, and everyone else's moment of pride for Ferrin, was shattered. The cat guard, without warning, made his claws come out and he immediately clawed Ferrin across her face with brute strength, knocking her to the deck. Ferrin yelled from the pain, but as she fell, the back of her head hit the deck, knocking her unconscious. Everyone immediately began panicking and screamed. Hatty screamed as well, but quickly ran to Ferrin's aid. He couldn't believe his eyes. One of his closest friends, whom he had strange feelings for, was now severely injured and unconscious on the deck of his ship. Hatty ran in front of Ferrin and put up a protective stance, fearing for his friend's life. The cat guard grinned evilly, and walked up to Hatty, whom had a serious look on his face. Hatty stared into the cat guard's eyes bravely. "Stay away from her." He warned. The cat guard laughed evilly a little bit. "And what are you gonna do about it, Hatty?~" The cat guard asked him. Unbeknownst to Hatty and the cat guard, the crew members of the S.S Friendship were watching the ordeal between them. They were all impressed by Hatty's bravery against the cat guard. Hatty continued to stare the cat guard down as he said, "Whatever it takes to make sure that you don't hurt her or anyone else." The cat guard laughed at Hatty. Hatty took this opportunity to order his friends to evacuate to their cabins and for Reginald to find shore quickly. Before Mom ran, she handed Hatty a sword and told him to be careful. Hatty picked up the sword and swiftly pointed it at the villainous cat guard. He laughed at him again and said, "You don't know how to use a sword!" "Yes, but I've seen knights using them in my dreams." Hatty confessed. The cat guard brought out his claws again and stared Hatty down. "Let's see how well you can really fight!" He said. The cat guard then ran at Hatty and raised his paws, ready to attack Hatty. Hatty swiftly jumped to the side, the cat guard missed him. Hatty then ran at the cat guard and brought the sword down on the feline with no mercy, angry at the fact that the cat guard hurt Ferrin and wanted to hurt the rest of his friends as well. He could care less about the cat guard wishing to kill him. The cat guard yeowled in pain and tried to claw Hatty again, striking the fabric at the bottom of Hatty's brown jacket. He brushed it off and swung the sword at the cat guard again, striking it's security guard uniform. The cat guard hissed angrily and clawed Hatty again. Hatty winced in pain but continued to attack the cat guard. It started blocking and dodging Hatty's attacks. The two continued to quarrel until the cat guard forcefully shoved Hatty to the ground. It smiled evilly and raised it's claws up, ready to finish Hatty off. But at the last second, Hatty rolled to the side, grabbed his sword, and held it to the cat guard's chest. The cat guard stayed still, fearing Hatty would end it's life. Hatty looked at the cat guard angrily, he was breathing heavily from the long battle with the cat guard. "Come with me..." Hatty managed to get out, he was still breathing heavily. The cat guard fearfully obeyed, and Hatty backed him up against the railing of the S.S Friendship. He looked directly into the cat guard's eyes. "Cat, as the Captain of the S.S Friendship, and King of Friendship Kingdom, I hereby banish you from ever stepping foot onto the S.S Friendship or anywhere near all of my friends ever again. Now, tell me, do you understand?" Hatty said in a stern tone. The cat guard smiled evilly at first. "Never!" He said. Hatty did not hesitate to hold the sword closer to the cat guard's chest in a threatening manner. He gave the cat guard a really angry look. "Tell me that you understand! Say it! SAY IT!!!" Hatty screamed at the cat guard. "Say directly to my face that you understand!!!" He yelled. The cat guard, who was now actually intimidated by Hatty's demeanor, said, "Yes! YES!!! YES!!! I UNDERSTAND YOU PERFECTLY CLEAR NOW!!!" Hatty removed the sword from the cat guard's chest and ordered, "Now, get off my ship!" The cat guard looked around the ship and found a barrel. He grabbed it hastily and ran and jumped off the deck of the S.S Friendship. He got into the barrel before it hit the ocean and he floated away in the barrel, paddling away using his paws back to the theater. Hatty scoffed and turned around, walking away from the railing. Hatty breathed out a huge sigh of relief. He took a moment to look at himself. His clothes were ripped and torn from the cat's claws that were aimed at him. There were claw marks in place of some of those rips and tears. "I'm gonna have to change into some new clothes and patch these claw marks up..." Hatty thought. But as he went for his cabin, he saw Ferrin's still unconscious body, laying down limply on the deck of his ship. Hatty's eyes widened, and he ran towards Ferrin, he was extremely worried for her life. "I can't believe I forgot about her!!! I'm such a terrible friend..." Hatty silently cursed at himself. He ran up to Ferrin, and quickly got to his knees. He gently picked up her limp body, carefully pushing some strands of hair out of her face. He looked at the horrible claw marks on her face. They were bleeding. Hatty put his hand on Ferrin's wrist, trying to check if she still had a pulse. Luckily, she was still alive. Hatty breathed a huge sigh of relief. He didn't know what he would do if he ever lost Ferrin. He then realized something. He had to patch up her injury and get her someplace safe. Without hesitation, Hatty gently picked Ferrin up and held her bridal style as he carried her back to his cabin. As he was walking to there, Reginald ran into him and asked if he was okay. Hatty said yes. Reginald then looked at Ferrin and asked Hatty what he was gonna do with her. Hatty told him he was gonna patch her up and take care of her until she got better. Reginald nodded understandingly. "Oh and Reginald?" "Yes, Hatty?" "Can you go and tell the other crew members that I'm okay, please? And if they ask, I'm taking care of Ferrin!" Hatty asked. "Sure Hatty!" Reginald said. He walked off to go tell the other crew members. Hatty carried Ferrin back to his cabin. He carefully pushed the door open and walked inside. Hatty carefully laid Ferrin down on a desk and went to his bed and pulled back the covers. He walked back over to Ferrin and picked her up and gently laid her down on his bed. Hatty then ran off and quickly grabbed a first-aid kit, and then ran back to his cabin. He ran up to Ferrin, and got out some bandages and disinfectant. He put the disinfectant onto a rag and carefully cleaned up the claw marks on Ferrin's face. He then carefully put bandages over them. Hatty then realized that he needed to be patched up, too. He looked at Ferrin. "I'll be right back, Ferrin. I'm going to go patch myself up. I'll be in the bathroom." Hatty said to Ferrin. He gathered up some new clothes and the first-aid kit and walked to the bathroom, locking himself in. He stripped down, and looked at himself in the mirror. He was pretty good-looking for "the walking definition of a handsome gentleman." Hatty got some more bandages and disinfectant. He carefully cleaned up his wounds wincing from the stinging in the disinfectant. After he got them all cleaned, he put bandages over all of them and got into his new clothes, carefully folding up the old, torn up ones and grabbing the first-aid kit, and put it back. He unlocked the bathroom door and walked out. He walked back to his cabin and put his old, torn up clothes away in a bin. "I'll have to clean and then fix them later..." He said to himself. Hatty walked up to Ferrin. She was still unconscious in his bed. Hatty felt bad for Ferrin, and prayed that she would be okay. Hatty then wondered when Ferrin was gonna wake up. "Well, whenever she does, I'm gonna be here for her." Hatty thought to himself. Hatty yawned, he was starting to feel tired from all of today's event's. He took one last look at Ferrin, and hoped she was okay, and that she would sleep well. Hatty went over to the huge desk in his cabin. He sat down in the chair, and laid his arms down on his desk. He laid his head down, and soon drifted off to sleep.
