A Few Hours Later...

Ferrin slowly opened her eyes. Her vision was blurry, but it eventually cleared up. Ferrin groggily looked around, trying to get her bearings. "I'm in... Hatty's cabin?" She thought, she felt confused. Then, all of a sudden, her head started aching. Ferrin winced in pain, and put her hand on her head, trying to stop the pain. As she did this, she then began to think. "What happened? Why am I in Hatty's room? Wait! Where's Hatty? Is he steering the ship? Where is he?" No matter how hard Ferrin tried, she couldn't remember anything about earlier. But then she came up with an idea. "I'm gonna go look for Hatty!" Ferrin said. Even though her head was still hurting from what happened earlier, Ferrin got out of Hatty's bed, and walked towards the door. But as she was reaching for the door handle, it began to turn. Ferrin quickly moved her hand away, and took a few steps back from the door. As the handle turned all the way, the door swung open. And who was standing there, was none other than Hatty Hattington himself. His expression changed into what looked like a look of surprise and relief. "F-Ferrin?!?!" He asked, in a confused tone. "Hatty!" Ferrin said, in an excited tone. "Ferrin!! You're... You... You're okay!" Hatty said, finally realizing what was going on. They both ran up to eachother and hugged eachother gently, being careful not to hurt the other. After what seemed like ages, they finally let go of eachother, looking into the other's eyes. Hatty was crying tears of joy, he was relieved that Ferrin was okay and wasn't in a coma. Ferrin felt worried for Hatty when she saw that he was crying. "Hatty? Are... Are you okay?" Ferrin asked, she was clearly worried about him. "D-don't worry, I-I'm fine!! These are just... tears of joy!" Hatty explained to Ferrin. "Oh... Okay!" She said, understanding. Hatty then suddenly realized something. "Wait! Shouldn't you be in bed?" Hatty asked Ferrin. "What?" She asked him, she was clearly confused by what he had just said. Hatty then realized another thing. "Wait, you don't remember what happened, do you?" He asked Ferrin. Ferrin nodded her head to 'no'. "Well, I was about to ask you about something, but then our ship stopped suddenly, and then a big, orange cat from that dangerous theater I was trapped in a while ago came onto our ship... and it... It wanted to kill me. But you stood up to it. You told him that, "You weren't gonna let him harm me or any of the crew members as long as you were there." And... That cat clawed your face so hard that you fell down and... You hit your poor head on the wooden deck of our ship!" Hatty explained to Ferrin. She now remembered what actually happened. It all came back rushing to her. "Oh..." Ferrin then came up with another question. "Wait! What happened after all of that?" Ferrin asked Hatty. Hatty cleared his throat. "Oh... Well... While everyone was panicking, I ran over to you and protected you, from that evil cat guard! He threatened me, but..." It was at that moment that Hatty had realized how truly brave he was to stand up for Ferrin. She realized this too, and she felt proud of him for protecting her. She then got an idea. "Thanks for protecting me, Hatty!" She said. Hatty grinned shyly and wiped his forehead, blushing. "O-oh, it w-was no p-problem really...!" He said. Hatty cleared his throat again. "Anyways, after I stood up for you, I told everyone to evacuate to their cabins, and Mom gave me a sword, and after I fought the cat, I banished him from ever stepping foot on this ship or coming anywhere near my friends again! And then... I was going to go patch myself up, but then I saw your unconscious body lying on the deck...... I feel horrible for forgetting about you, Ferrin... I'm so sorry... I must be the worst best friend you ever had..." Hatty uttered, while still feeling guilty about what he did. Ferrin walked up closer to Hatty. "No, Hatty. You're not the worst best friend I've ever had! What matters is that you took care of me in the end!" Ferrin consoled Hatty. He felt better after hearing what Ferrin had just said. He smiled a little. "T-thank you, Ferrin..!" He said to her. "Oh, it's no problem!" Ferrin replied. Then Ferrin realized something. "Wait!! Did that cat guard hurt you?!?!" Ferrin asked, a ton of worry in her tone. "...Yes, he did! B-but don't worry! I'm fine!" Hatty reaffirmed. Ferrin took a few deep breaths, and then sighed. "Well, I guess that explains your new clothes!" Ferrin said. Hatty blushed, and smiled at Ferrin. "Oh! Thank you!" He said. "No problem!" Ferrin replied. After a few seconds of silence, Hatty suddenly remembered something. "Wait! You're injured! You shouldn't be out of bed, Ferrin!" Hatty said. Ferrin was confused by what he said. "What?" She asked. Hatty began to gently pick Ferrin up bridal style. "You're still severely injured from that cat attacking you, so you need to rest!" Hatty explained to Ferrin. She began blushing. "B-but it's just a scratch, Hatty!" "No, it's more than just a scratch. You hit your head hard on the deck, and it's made of wood!" Hatty argued. Ferrin decided to just stop and let Hatty do as he pleases with her. Hatty carried Ferrin back to his bed and laid her down in it. Ferrin felt like she was blushing, she had never seen Hatty be so determined to make sure that she was okay. Hatty did not know why, but he really was worried about Ferrin's well-being. And he still had the strange urge to take Ferrin somewhere special, where it could be just the two of them. Another thing that Hatty felt was that he wanted to be with Ferrin as long as they both lived. But no matter how much Hatty thought about it, he just couldn't figure out why. Hatty and Ferrin did not realize that they were gazing into eachother's eyes at the moment. But when they did, Hatty leaned away and nervously wiped the sweat from his forehead. "U-uh, anyways! How are you feeling?" Hatty asked Ferrin. "Uh... I'm.. feeling... okay?" Ferrin asked, awkwardly. "O-oh! That's good!" Hatty said, trying to hide the fact that he was blushing. Hatty then remembered something. "Oh! And Ferrin?" "Yes?" Ferrin asked Hatty. "I'd just like to say that I, admired your bravery to stand up to that cat!" Hatty said. Ferrin's face was blushing. "What? R-really?" She asked Hatty. "Yes! Of course! Everyone was impressed by your bravery! Especially me!" Hatty reaffirmed Ferrin. She smiled and continued to blush. After a few moments of silence, Hatty asked Ferrin, "Well, can I get you anything?" "...No, thank you!" Ferrin replied. After a few more moments of silence, Hatty begun to think. Then, all of a sudden, he remembered what he was originally going to ask Ferrin. Hatty felt nervous and flustered to ask Ferrin, but he really wanted to take her someplace special. Until he realized that he couldn't do it yet, Ferrin was still recovering. "I'll just wait until after Ferrin gets better!" Hatty thought. After a few more moments of thinking, Hatty got another idea. "Hey Ferrin?" "Yes, Hatty?" Ferrin asked. "I'll-I'll... I'll be right back, I just gotta go, get something!" Hatty said, not feeling so nervous this time. Ferrin nodded in understandment and Hatty walked out of his cabin and out onto the shore. The S.S Friendship had sailed back to Hatty's hometown, by his request. Just in case if Ferrin needed anything. Hatty walked into a store and bought a vase full of flowers. After paying for them, he walked back out and walked back to the S.S Friendship. Hatty wanted to buy Ferrin flowers because he cared about her and wanted to make her feel better. As he got to the closed doors of his cabin, he tried to hide the flowers behind his back so he could surprise her. With a knot in his stomach, he opened the doors to his cabin and walked in, with the flowers hidden behind his back. "Hi Hatty!" Ferrin greeted. "H-hi, Ferrin!" Hatty said, trying not to sound nervous. He walked up closer to Ferrin. "So, I got you something!" He continued. "What is it?" Ferrin asked. It was at that moment that Hatty got the vase filled with flowers behind his back, and showed them to her. Ferrin smiled widely, her face was blushing. "Oh my gosh Hatty! They're beautiful! Thank you so much for the flowers!" Ferrin said, happiness inside of her voice. Hatty smiled a little, he was overjoyed that Ferrin liked the flowers. "Yeah! I got them for you to make you feel better!" Hatty confessed, smiling a little. Ferrin loved it when Hatty smiled. She thought he looked cute doing it. "Yeah! It was no problem!" Hatty said. He sat the flowers down on the bedside table next to Ferrin.
