“I’m so, so sorry, Alec. For everything.”

Alec watched Jace, concerned. Since his mother and sister had left, Jace hadn’t stopped apologizing.

Alec had never seen him this broken.

“I’m fine, Jace. There is nothing to worry about. I forgive you.”, he tried to comfort his Parabatai again.

Jace watched him. Tears were shimmering in his eyes and a few more had escaped his eyes, leaving wet trails on his cheeks.

Jace exhaled sharply.

“I almost killed you, Alec. You … my Parabatai.”, he sniffed.

Alec touched his shoulder lightly.

“You weren’t in charge of what you’re doing and I’m alive.”, he said calmly.

Jace shook his head and rubbed his hands over his face.

“Does it still hurt?”, he asked and pointed to Alec’s chest.

Alec could hear that he tried to control his body but his voice was still shaking.

“Yeah, to be honest, it does. But don’t worry. Magnus will take care of it. He healed me so far, he’ll do the rest too.”, he said as unconcerned as he could and sat up to show Jace he was ok. His chest hurt but he tried to ignore it.

Jace shot him a guilty gaze, but remained silent.

Alec narrowed his eyes at him.

“What is it?”, he asked curious.

Jace cleared his throat.

“Nothing. I’m just missing Clary. I don’t know where she is.”, he told him.

Alec eyed him up. His sister had told him, that they weren’t sure what happened to Clary. But they where sure she wasn’t dead, because there wasn’t a body anywhere.

“Go, find her.”, he advised.

Jace breathed deeply.

“I’m planning to.”, he mumbled.

Alec grinned at him.

“What are you waiting for?”

Jace shrugged his shoulders. He seemed so lost.

Alec pulled himself to the edge of the bed and touched the cold ground with his naked feet. The pain in his chest increased and he clenched his teeth.

He had to see Magnus. He’d give him something to allay his pain.

Jace watched him, worried.

“Are you sure you should get up by now?”, he asked.

Alec forced a smile.

“I’m good.”

He eyed up the room to find his stele. Then he remembered that he’d given it to Simon and apparently hadn’t get it back till now.

“Hey, can I borrow your stele?”

Jace handed him the light stick and Alec drew a Iratze on his shoulder. He sighed as rune-power kicked in and the pain eased.

“Go, find Clary. That’s an order.”, he let Jace know and pulled himself to his feet.

“What about you?”, Jace asked.

Alec gave him back his stele.

“I’ll be fine. I have a warlock boyfriend to take care of me.”, he tried to convince Jace.

Jace eyed him up and sighed.

“Okay. Tell Magnus that I count on him.”, he let Alec know and hugged him, before he stormed out of the room.
