Warning: sensitive topic described. ❤️

As a kid you're always told to "be like your parents" because "they know best."
The same was for us.
I was to do what you did.

The abrupt, rude remarks
Stabs I felt in my back,
Forceful touching and prodding,
In the dark corner behind your shack.

All of it.

The night when you laughed at her
And I was sitting there silent
You knew
You knew I wouldn't
-couldn't.
She was innocent
And didn't deserve it

Sorry if I didn't want to be a part of something so traumatising

The last time it happened
I was that girl
I remember.
That night,
I had vowed to never let it happen to anyone else
Ever.

So what if I'm a "goody two shoes"
Who needs to "lighten up"?
Laughter
Hiding the fear in anonymous eyes,
Will never dry
The queasiness of my stomach
And the jitters set alight.
Because unfortunately,
No matter how hard I try,
I'll always remember that night.
