From Cuddling To Dating [Sequel to Cuddle Buddy]

Niklaus's POV

After taking a shower, put some jeans and t-shirt on, I went to the living room and made everyone leave but Rebekah because apparently she wanted to talk to me in private.

"So... what did you needed to talk to me about?"

"Do I really have to say?" Rebekah asked and I just looked at her, not knowing what she was talking about, making her roll her eyes. "What the bloody hell happened between you and Jane last night when she was doing the striptease?"

"Nothing happened. She just made that striptease." I said.

"Maybe that's what only happened but... you can't do this kind of thing to Caroline. She likes you a lot... I know that you see Jane as a friend but for how much Caroline tries to see Jane as your friend, she will always see her as the girl you slept with." Rebekah said.

"Did she told you that?"

"No. But you don't need her to tell you that, it's perfect clear. Nik, she met you when you spend your time sleeping around and drinking, even if she believes that you no longer are like that, she will always remember who you were and a part of her will always wonder if you want to go back to that life... and seeing you with Jane doesn't help."

"But I want to be with Caroline."

"I know... I'm just saying that you should be careful to not hurt Caroline."

"Careful? Why? Do you think I ever cheated on Caroline? Do you think I am cheating on her? Because I am not. I like Caroline. I like her a lot and I wouldn't change her for anyone or anything in this world." I said angry.

"I never said you were cheating on her. I'm just telling you to be careful. You know that she probably gets hurt every time you talk about Jane or every time she sees you close to Jane, right? Even if you're not cheating on her with Jane... Caroline sees you like this brave and loving man, which you are but I also know the side of you who is reckless and selfish, I saw how you let many girls hurt because of giving them false hope. Do not do that to Caroline. Caroline is my friend and she is a good person."

"Don't you think I know that? Don't you think I ask myself every single day what she saw in me? Don't you think I wonder what made Caroline fall for me? Don't you think I know that she is way better than me? Don't you think I know that I'm not enough for her? I know all of that! I know I don't deserve her! I know I'm not worthy of her love!"

"What are you talking about? Of course you are worthy! She sees the person you try to hide from the world, she sees a man who loves art, who is talented, who is brave and who does everything to protect the people he loves. She sees the good in you, the part of you that you decide to hide because you think it makes you seem weak." Rebekah said with a small smile and then with a serious face said "Please don't make her think of you as that awful player you pretend to be for so long. Be the one you tried to hide from everyone but somehow Caroline saw it... That's the guy she likes."

"What if I am a player? What if I started to like that life?"

"Alright, now I see what's going on. Look, yes it's hard to be in a serious relationship with someone, I mean there is fighting and we get vulnerable and all that, but in the end it's worthy because you know that you have someone who loves you and who is there for you in the good and bad. Just don't screw everything up, okay?"

"Do you think I'm ready to be in a relationship like that with Caroline?"

"Of course. When you are with Caroline, your eyes light up. She makes you smile and you told her personal stuff... You told her things that you usually don't talk about not even with me. You and Caroline were there for each other since you first met, no matter what stupid thing you did, she was always there for you and I know you've been always there for her. Even if you think you want to sleep around, I know Caroline is the one you want to be with in the end of the day. You are just scared of how much you like her."

"Do you think she likes me like that?"

"Of course she does. She is always asking about stories of you, she doesn't mind to deal with Kol and she is trying to handle and respect you wanting to be Jane's friend. No woman would do as much as she does. She clearly likes you a lot... maybe way too much."

"Oh wow... thank you." I said sarcastically.

"I'm going to leave. Do not mess up what you have with Caroline." Rebekah said and left.
