I didn't say anything in Spanish, and when it ended I practically sprinted out of the room. I didn't bother going to lunch because, Calum would be there. I feel like such an idiot for being so afraid of Calum, but he's twice my size, has a bad temper, and could practically break me in half if he wanted. I'm a sensitive person, and little things could effect me greatly, and it sucks.
I pulled on the sleeves of my jumper as I sat at an empty table in the library. The silence made me think more, and that wasn't such a good thing. But I kept reading my book, keeping myself, and my brain, occupied on anything else. But it didn't help. I could help but let my thoughts get scattered, and everything fell around him. I could only imagine what the bruises on my back looked like, Calum pushed me on the lockers really hard.
The chair across from me moved suddenly, causing me to jump. I stared at the page, not wanting to face whoever it was. What if it's Calum? Don't look up, don't look-
"Vanessa?" They said, I looked up being beyond relieved that it was only Drew. "Are you alright?"
"Uh, yea. I'm fine." I said rubbing my face feeling suddenly washed of energy. "Why?" I questioned quietly. A slight chuckle escaped his lips,
"It looked as if you've seen a ghost." He joked, laughing at his own attempt to get me to laugh. I kept a straight face, not responding, just thinking.
"Why are you so spaced out?" He pressured, looking more concerned. I sighed, closing my book, looking at the time. I had sat through lunch, now it's study hall, then I can leave... I can't wait.
"Nothing. I'm fine." I lied. His gaze hardened, not believing me. I haven't known him long, but it's obvious he could see right through me. Like I'm an open book. "I... I can't tell you." I said feeling anxious of being caught in a situation I couldn't get myself out of.
"You can tell me anything, you know that?" He says as a look of pity replaced his concern. I wanted to tell Drew so bad, so he cold help me. But I knew that if I did Calum would not be pleased. And I did not want to see what he would do when he found out I told, I was scared.
"Drew, I really can't tell you." I say with a new found desperation. He narrowed his eyes at me, as if he was trying to look into my soul. It didn't help that his brown eyes looked like a puppy, he always used it to his advantage.
"Vanessa, I'll meet up with you after school wait for me in the front hall. Okay?" He tried convincing me. But left before I could deny the offer, what if Calum got there before him?

I stood in the front hall waiting with great anxiety. Hannah and Rotem attempted to talk to me but i made an excuse for them to leave me alone, i felt bad, but what else was i supposed to do? why is Drew taking so long!?
My heart sank as i spotted Calum out of the corner of my eye. A smirk came over his face as I looked down nervously, he stopped talking to Ashton, Micheal, and Luke starting to walk up to me. i looked around in a hurry, seeing Drew and i sighed in relief once Calum saw and gave up trying to come up to me.
"We are going to your house to talk. what happened? you look petrified." He commented, opening the door for me. I didnt respond, i just walked.
I didn't even hear what Drew was blabbing on about, let alone notice his presence. I was in my own world. I enjoyed it too much. No one else could bother me, I was alone.
"Why are you wearing a jumper?! It's 85 degrees outside, you must be sweating." Drew suddenly pointed out. Now that he mentioned it, I was really hot. I couldn't take it off cause of my arms. I rubbed my wrists lightly, having a feeling the bruises would be worse than they appeared to be earlier. Drew smiled, reaching for my arm,
"C'mon, smile-" he stopped mid sentence when I flinched, pulling my arm away from him. The smile was wiped off his face, and became dead serious. I closed my eyes knowing I could never dig myself out of this hole.
As soon as we came to my street, I saw Calum, yet again sitting on his porch. I walked quickly in front of Drew and getting inside, and closing the door after he was in. Thank god no one else was home, that would have sucked. But as soon as that door shut, the questioning started.
"What happened? What's wrong? What did you do? Who do I need to hurt?" It didn't seem to end. I just gave him a blank expression until he finished.
"Let me see your arms." My eyes widened. No. No. No. This is not happening!
"I-I really want to. But I can't!" I said nervously, pulling my sleeves further down my arms, covering my hands. Drew stopped moving for a second, but suddenly lunged toward, grabbing my hands firmly, but careful not to hurt me. I give up as he exposed my arms. His eyes widened, you could see the hand print clearly,
"Who did this? Obviously a girl didn't do this, the hands are too big." He says, mostly to himself. I ripped my hands out of his grip, walking over to the couch and putting my head in my hands. He followed close behind me, "who-"
"I can't tell you!" I said raising my voice becoming irritated. There was a long silence,
"Why not?"
"He will only hurt me more."
"I promise if you tell me, I'll always be with you so he can't." When he said it, it didn't sound like an empty promise.
"Calum."
