I didn't know why, but I kept the jacket on, sitting back in the chair I had in my room. Turning up my music, mumbling the words of my favorite Green Day song, American Idiot. I pulled it tighter onto my body, closing my eyes taking a deep breath, trying to get myself to relax.

I was dead. Calum was going to be so pissed. I mean it's been a few weeks! How could I have been so stupid! It looks so weird that I've kept it, even if I didn't mean to. I must have been sitting the awhile because the next thing I knew, it was about 3:30.

I started to feel anxious as I pulled off the jacket, walking into the bathroom and fixing my hair and makeup. As I ran a hand throwing my hair I noticed the bruises across my wrists, taking the shape of a larger hand than my own. They were nearly gone, but if someone saw then it would be obvious. I sighed, taking out my foundation, and covering them the best I could. I would have put bracelets on... But I didn't have any that would cover.

I slipped on my shoes, and walked out the door with the jacket in my arms. I trudged over, not looking up, feeling like I would drop dead at any second. I silently hoped that I would. Seriously.

"Vanessa!" I heard someone call out to me, I looked up. Michael and Ashton were waiting from me on the porch. I hurried across my grass and onto Calum's yard. They got up and met me half way, I saw them eye the jacket,

"This is going to seem weird. But, when I had the hang out with Calum he let me use his jacket and I forgot to give it back..." I said nervously.

They both chuckled at me, I kept my nervous face. They didn't understand. "Well, c'mon, you can go give it back to him."

I followed them into the backyard where there was a granny flat that I didn't know existed. I walking in and it was all one room, and a drum kit was set up with guitar stands everywhere.

"Hey-why is she here?" My eyes fell on Calum, who was giving me a terrible glare.

"We wanted her to hear our music." Luke smiled from across the room. I saw Michael and Ashton left me, and slowly walked over to Calum. I didn't make eye contact with him,

"I'm so sorry, I forgot to give this back." I said trying to sound normal, sure to stop the others from being suspicious. When he didn't answer, I looked up, locking eyes. I knew right then he was angry.

"Thanks." He said, attempting to sound sincere, taking the jacket from me. But suddenly he leaned close to me, I stepped back, but he came closer. "You owe me. I had to buy another when I couldn't find this one." He whispered harshly into my ear. I nodded quickly, walking away quickly. I didn't know what he meant, but I knew it wasn't a good thing.

"Why do you look so spooked?" Ashton asks furrowing his eyebrows at me. I just shook my head, as if nothing was wrong and I wasn't scared. He didn't seem convinced, but continued "we will start soon."

"Cool." I said noticing the others were tuning their guitars. They were only a garage band... No microphones or anything. I expected that though, but they had small amplifiers. They still had nice guitars and drum set. "Ashton, please don't leave me alone with Calum." I whispered very quietly. He furrowed his eyebrows in confusion, but nodded.

"Vanessa. Move." Calum commanded, I rushed to get out of everyone's way, with my head down so I didn't have to look at him. I sat on a stool were I could see all of them, and all of the guys were looking at Calum angry.

"Dude, calm down. She didn't do anything." Luke said. Calum rolled his eyes and sent my a hard look and I turned away quickly. Making eye contact with Ashton. I wasn't sure why, but I felt closer to him... More comfortable. But Luke and Michael are nice too. Also, if Calum tries anything, they would be there... That's good.

'You okay?' Ashton mouthed to me, nodded smiling lightly. Suddenly, he stood up, with his drum sticks in hand.

"We are... 5 Hundred Years of Winter!" He announced. I laughed because it was the opposite of their real name, 5 Seconds of Summer.

"It started on a weekend in May,

I was looking for attention

Needed intervention

Felt somebody looking at me

With a powder white complexion

Feeling the connection" Michael sang. I smiled, liking their style already.

When they finished, I was a little shocked. I didnt know they were so talented. "Wow, totally punk rock." I said smiling. "do you have any slower songs?"

Luke turned to Calum, "Wanna sing Bad Dreams?" Only getting a nod in response.

"You look so beautiful

No one but me knows you're insane

I feel so damn pathetic

My friends just don't get it" I was a bit taken back, his voice was just so soft and sweet when he sang... SHUT UP BRAIN!

Cause you've got me under oath

Before you I was in a fucking rut

One day you are in the past

That night I ask you back

It started out just harmless fun

Now you've got me thinking you are the one

Cause if you wanna take me home

You know I'm ready to leave

You've got me under your spell

Please don't set me free

Cause I've been having all these nightmares

Seeing you is my only way up

Feeling so defenseless

But I'm telling you

I wouldn't change a thing

You've got me feeling strange

Cause I love to hate you so damn much

But I can't think of leaving

Cause you're what keeps me breathing

It started out just harmless fun

Now you've got me thinking you are the one

Cause if you wanna take me home

You know I'm ready to leave

You've got me under your spell

Please don't set me free

Cause I've been having all these nightmares

Seeing you is my only way up

Feeling so defenseless

But I'm telling you

I wouldn't change a thing

Cause if you wanna take me home

You know I'm ready to leave

You've got me under your spell

Please don't set me free

Cause if you wanna take me home

You know I'm ready to leave

You've got me under your spell

Please don't set me free

Cause I've been having all these nightmares

Seeing you is my only way up

Feeling so defenseless

But I'm telling you

I wouldn't change a thing"

They played more songs, and really, I loved it. Their music was like all my favorite bands combined... All Time Low, Green Day, 1975, Blink 182, Mayday Parade... Seriously.

They even sang the song I heard Calum play out in the city, Lost boy. That was truly my favorite. I couldn't help but smile at the happy, carefree boys in front of me... and Calum.
