#47 The Rescuing

"Here is your table, miss." The waiter pulled the seat out.

"Thank you." I sat down as he pushed in the chair.

"Can I start you off with anything? Drinks? Appetizers?"

"Um I will take a water and can we wait a few minutes for the appetizers? My date should be here in any minute."

"Of course." He smiled politely and walked away.

I looked around the restaurant, hoping that maybe I missed him or something. But unfortunately no. Also it would be kinda hard to pick him out because this is a blind date so I don't know exactly what he looks like. All I know is his name is Robbie. That's literally all I know. His friend and my friend set us up.

Our friends just said to meet each other at this pretty fancy Italian restaurant.

After 45 minutes of drinking many glasses of water and bread rolls, the waiter came back to the table.

He gave me a sympathetic look, "Would you like to order now and do you need a few more minutes?"

I looked around and let out a deep sigh, "I think I am going to head out."

I opened my clutch.

"How much do I owe you?" I asked.

"You don't need to pay for anything, it was on us tonight." He smiled understandingly.

"Thank you." I said with disappointment laced in my expression.

I stood up and hobbled out of the restaurant in my high heels.

Robbie was supposed to drive me home, so it looked like I was walking. Good thing I didn't live too far away.

I made my way through the streets and decided to cut through this neighborhood to get to my house. I noticed that I had to go past this poorly lit back alley. I didn't feel comfortable to do that but I had to. Scary thoughts came into my mind when I first entered but I tried to think happy thoughts. When I was about half way, a guy walked slowly in front of me a couple of feet away.

"Hey there." said the darker man.

"Um hi." I slowed down to a stop.

"You looking for a fun time tonight babe?" said a lighter man who was behind me.

"Oh um," I began to panic, "N-no. I'm just you know, going to a friends house." I lied.

"Are you sure? You can hang with me and my bro?" The guys stepped even closer.

I stumbled back and bumped into the guy behind me. Woah he was closer than before.

"C'mon sweetheart," He ran his hands down my curves and kept them on my hips, "your body is very nice."

I jumped away from him and smacked him with my clutch.

"Don't touch me, leave me alone." I hissed.

"Ooo we got a feisty one Matt."

"This will be more fun." He smiled evilly.

I turned and ran, but my shoes slowed me down. They caught up to me and grabbed me.

"Help!" I screamed, "Some one help me! Please!"

"Shut up." His giant hand cover my mouth. They tied me up and carried me over to a car. They ended up throwing me into the back seat.

"Stay low and quiet." They said from the front seat as tears fell down my face.

It seemed like we drive for awhile, so when they we stopped at a red light, I lifted up my head. There was a guy out on a job. I moved my head back and forth until he saw me. He took out his earbuds and gave me a confused look.

"Help me." I mouthed the words to him as more tears fell down my face.

He nodded and ran right in front of the car. He stopped, bent down, and tied his shoes. This was my time to attempt escape. I started wiggling and my hands got loose. I carefully untied the binds on my ankles, not trying to attract attention to myself. The light turned green on the empty street.

"Hey! Move it kid!" They yelled and honked the horn.

The guy looked up and waved, then went back down to his shoes.

"No, that's not what we went! MOVE!" They were flailing their arms everywhere.

He stood up and moved to the side. Just before my kidnapper was about to speed up, I hopped out of the slightly moving car and ran.

"Hey!" The man in the passenger seat yelled. They stopped the car and he ran after me. I flicked off my shoes, fleeing for my life. Hearing a grunt behind me, I looked back to see the man on the floor and the boy's hand in a fist.

"Go go! C'mon!" The boy yelled and caught up to me. He grabbed my hand, pulling me around the corner behind some hedges. He put his finger up to his lips.

"Shhh." He whispers.

Through the hedges we see the kidnappers car slowly drive by with a flashlight. As it scans the bushes, I hold my breath as a single year falls down my face.

"I know you're out there!" He yells out the window.

We could hear him get frustrated and drive off.

"Oh thank god." I let out a shaky breath. We got out of the bushes.

"Are you alright?" says the boy.

"I'm fine, just a little shaken up. Who knows what would have happened to me tonight if I didn't see you." Chills went down my spine causing me to shiver.

"Oh my god, you must be freezing in that dress." He took off his light-weight running jacket and draped it over my shoulders.

"Thanks." I said.

"How about I drive you home?" He asked in his charming accent.

"Please." I smiled with thankfulness.

"My house is the next street over." He began walking. "So why are you dressed up all fancy?"

"My friend set me up on a blind date and the guy never showed up, so I walked home and yeah, you know the rest."

"Wait- the guy never showed up? What a jerk!" He exclaimed.

"Yeah, I was excited to meet this guy and all. I don't even know what he looks like. All I know is his name is Robbie."

The guy stopped.

"Wait- you said Robbie?"

"Yeah... Why?" I looked at him.

"My name is Robbie and I was supposed to go in a blind date with a girl named Kriss...."

"That's me! Wait you're Robbie?!? You left me sitting there all night?"

"My friend said it was tomorrow night. Ugh I can't trust my mates anymore. I'm so sorry, I would have come of he told me the right day. Wow, this whole thing is my fault."

"No it's not, I mean it could be worse. What if you didn't go running tonight? I could have been assaulted or dead, but you saved me." I smiled trying to make him feel better. I could tell that he was feeling really guilty for everything.

"Yeah but it's my fault that you walked-"

"Robbie," I grabbed his hand to calm him, "everything is fine now. How about we act like this never happened and start over?"

"I would like that. How about tomorrow night at 7, I will pick you up and we will go to the Cinema?"

"Sounds like a date." I smiled the whole way home.
