Jonathan's POV
Evan Fong. A name I've come to hate over the years. A name that feels sour when it comes out of my mouth.
Let's back this story up a little. We were in seventh grade. One of his friends said something about me, I said something about him.
This escalated into a face to face show down. I wasn't going to put my hands on him until he said something about my best friend, Luke.
I collided my fist with Tyler's face. It wasn't long until it turned into a big fight. I lost. But I did get the last punch.
Tyler and Evan hated me ever since. Me and Luke hated them. We avoided them at all cost after that.
I wasn't the one that started the fight but I sure as hell ended it. Then my sexuality secret got out. Evan and Tyler used this against me which I don't get.
Tyler always has Craig hanging off of his shoulder. I didn't let it get to me though.
I had great friends, a great family, and all my grades were perfect. I didn't need bullies getting to me.
I tapped my pencil to the clock ticks. School is almost over. I waited until I heard the bell ring. Once it did, I was the first one out of that class.
I went to my locker. I dug out everything I needed. I had some homework but not a lot.
I pulled my skateboard out of my locker and closed it. I leaned my back against my locker and got my phone out.
I turned on a random song and put my headphones in. I turned them up as loud as they could go.
I walked out the front door, catching a few glances from Evan and his crew. I ignored them all and kept walking.
Once my foot hit the concrete, I threw down my skateboard. I used my foot to push myself.
I let the cool fall air hit my face. It relaxed me until I made it home. My parents work when I get home from school.
I walked upstairs to my room. I opened the window. When you look out my window, you can see straight into Evan's room.
Did I mention me and Evan are neighbors? Well, we're neighbors. I took my headphones out and set my skateboard by my door.
I connected my phone to my speakers. I turned up the volume. I heard yelling coming from outside.
I looked out and saw Evan and his friends. I scoffed and sat at my desk. I saw them all leave Tyler's car and go to Evan's room.
My desk was on the wall that was below the window. They had a pretty good view of me and could see everything I did.
I turned up my music louder. I saw a few of them look at me. My phone vibrated.
I looked at it.
Luke🤞🏻❤️: Heyyy
I smiled to myself. He's done this every single day since he moved away. He's moved back to North Carolina. I can't blame him, it's a beautiful place.
Jonathan🤞🏻💙: Hi
I put my phone down and focused back on my homework. I heard Tyler's voice from where I was. My phone vibrated once more.
Luke🤞🏻❤️: Go outside ;)
I was confused. Maybe he sent something in the mail. I got up and closed my folder. I saw Evan stare at me.
I ignored it and walked downstairs. I went to the front door. I opened it, looking at the mat, expecting a package.
"Hey Jon." A deep voice said. My heart stopped. I looked up. Luke smiled a toothy grin. I immediately hugged him.
He chuckled and hugged back. "What are you doing here? I mean, I'm happy that you are-" He placed a finger over my mouth.
"I moved back here. My parents found better paying jobs here. In fact, I live right across the street." I smiled.
"I'm so happy that you're back." I said. "I am too." I grabbed his muscular arm and led him to my room.
That was my first mistake.
