Floating Islands

Many times before, Loukia has learned the importance of staking your claim over a personalized territory.

There are three colossal chunks of land that float high above the earth, in what is known as the stratosphere. They use the clouds as a form of support, along with another unknown force that Loukia keeps hidden from all. The islands can travel along with the wind current, although they don't stray far from their origin.

Directly below these islands is a gaping hole in the earth that a nearby lake is constantly pouring tributaries into, yet never seems to entirely fill up. This is the floating islands' origin, the place Loukia used her powerful elemental traits to raise the pieces of land and create her new home in the sky.

This is where visitors may wait to be greeted.

No mere human down on the ground could spot it with their own eyes, but if one used a strong enough telescope, they would spot the many various transparent shapes growing throughout the three islands. These were the enormous shifting crystals that gave this levitating land most of it's magical properties.

It would be difficult for one to land here if they were unaware of the weak spot inside the magical force protecting the trio of islands from intruders. If someone did manage to find the loophole, it would be almost impossible to locate Loukia's hidden dwelling; she made sure to design a home that would be a challenge to raid or take over. Any time she leaves her cave unguarded, she seals up the entrance with sharp, animate crystals that will defend the opening should they ever need to.

Once inside the small cave entrance, it would continue on for half a mile into the thick crust of the islands. There are at least a dozen passageways leading elsewhere within the vast cavern, but only Loukia knows which way leads to her sleeping quarters. Certain paths will take intruders to patches of hostile crystal formations growing along the cave ceiling and walls. When motion is detected, these sharp growths shoot out all at once at the moving object, effectively capturing and most likely killing the victim.

However, because she can control these crystals, Loukia regularly traverses each passageway to freshen her own scents and footprints, hopefully slowing down or throwing off others should her home be invaded. Why take such extensive precautions, you may ask? Well, amongst the many jewels she keeps hidden away on her island, Loukia has a grand prize of her own.

To others, she would tell them the crystal around her neck was the only thing she brought from her homeland, but that in fact is a lie designed to throw anyone off her tracks. When Loukia finally escaped the Akreon prison, she went on a vindictive rampage throughout the capital building, and managed to stumble upon the one object powering the entire city: a colossal Vitality Crystal.

These specially designed precious stones do not release any emissions of energy, so no one would be able to find the giant rock nestled away deep within her island's core. It is the Vitality Crystal's unique energy that keeps Loukia's territory safety protected and lodged in the sky.
