The Bond (Hausa story)

Chapter 3

I don't know if its just me but it was as if the volume of my alarm had increased this morning, it was so loud that when I woke up I was convinced that the whole neighborhood had heard it

After some struggling I finally stood up to go perform ablution and I prayed, then I went back to sleep

Not about two hours later I heard Ya Nadia coming into my room and telling me to wake up

I groaned loudly "I can no longer even sleep for two damn minutes in this house" I took the blanket off my face

"Ehn? You've been asleep for almost 9 hours, now get up you lazy brat!" she said

"Why are you waking me up so damn early it is a Saturday, i do not have school"

"I know that, but we have to take breakfast to Aunty Khadijah, mama said that she wanted to make breakfast for her today so you and I are taking it to the hospital and I am not in the mood to drive so you will be driving us"

"When I last checked Ya Ibrahim lives in this house, go to him let me sleep" I said turning away from her

"No!" She said dragging my shirt so I can face her "he has gone out to take something to Baba Aliyu's house, now stand up before I drag you out of the bed"

I sat up with a huff "I'm only doing this because of Aunty Khadija, so kar kiji kan ki" I said (so don't feel yourself)

She started walking out of the room "yenyenyen" she said, moving me

"You are such a child!" I screamed at her, picking up a pillow next to me to throw at her but she managed to rush out the door and close it behind her before it hit her

"Says YOU!" I heard her voice

I rolled my eyes

"And hurry up the food is already ready" I heard her call out

I finally stood up and I went to the bathroom and took my shower when i came out i changed into a dark blue abaya with it's matching veil

I took my phone and I dropped it inside my bag then I took the bag and I went downstairs

I saw Mama in the dining room and I gave her a hug "Ina kwana"

"Lafiya qalau mamana, how was your night?"

"Oh, my night was going good before someone decided to ruin it" I said while taking a bite from an apple I picked on the table and glaring at Ya Nadia  who came out of the kitchen wearing an abaya that she wasn't wearing before

"How did I ruin your night when it was already morning" Ya Nadia said while rolling her eyes

"Don't try to be such a smartass" I said squinting my eyes at her

"Toh ni dai take the food before it turns cold if you come back you can continue" mama said

I and Ya Nadia chuckled

Ya Nadia took the basket from the kitchen and we were about to leave when mama spoke "if she is awake greet her for me and tell her that we will be coming back later in the afternoon"

"Okay" Ya Nadia replied while tossing me the key, we went out of the house and we entered the car, I started the engine and I drove off

There was surprisingly not much traffic on the way so we arrived at the hospital  in a few minutes

We went to the same room we did yesterday

When we entered we saw Aunty  Khadijah, who's now awake, Aunty Halima who was also awake and the twins who were asleep

I and Ya Nadia said salam and entered, Aunty Khadijah smiled when she saw us and we sat down and we exchanged greetings

"Iman, kwana biyu ban gan ki ba, makarantan ne yake boye ki haka" Aunty Khadija said
(Iman, two days I haven't seen you, is it school that's hiding you like this?)

I chuckled "eh Aunty"

"Toh Allah ya bada sa'ah, ai you are almost done right?"

"Eh, nakusa gama wa" (Yes, I'm almost done)

"Allah ya kaimu" she said

"Ameen" we all chorused

Ya Nadia told her what mama said

And since we finished what we were sent to do we stood up to leave when Aunty Khadija spoke "Iman, you are coming back in the afternoon, right?"

"Insha Allah, Allah ya qara sauqi" I said

"Ameen, toh sai kun dawo" Aunty Khadijah said

I smiled at her then we went out of the room

"Why do you think she asked me if I'm coming back later?" I asked ya Nadia when we entered the elevator

She shrugged "i don't know, it was just a random question I guess"

I nodded before we went out of the elevator

We left the building and into the car and i drove home

We arrived home and I turned the car off and I gave Ya Nadia her car key and I went inside

I said hello to mama before going up stairs while ya Nadia told mama that we saw aunty Khadijah and she was fine and what not

I went to my room I removed my veil, I laid down on my bed and I brought out my phone, I checked and there was a missed call from Safiya, one of my two friends that left me all alone in school that day

"Hello?" She said

"Hello Hajiya, Ya kike?" I asked (Hello Ma'am, how are you?)

"Lafiya Alhaji, Kai fa?" She joked
(I'm good Sir, How about you?)

I laughed "Lafiya na qalau Alhamdulillah"
(I am doing good, Thanks to God)

"How's your Aunty's wedding?" I asked, knowing she's been away for it for about three  days now

"It is going good, today is the yinnin Biki"

"Ouu, make sure you send me pictures!"

She giggled "I will!, I saw your cousin Sadiq!"

"Really?!" I asked, sitting straighter knowing that she has a crush on him, even though she had never admitted it

"Yes, the groom's brother is his friend"

"Well did you guys speak, did he recognize you?"

"Yes we did, through out yesterday's event, he did!, I was actually surprised he did"

"Aw, that's cute" I said, smiling

I could already picture her frown
"So how are things going?" she said, changing the topic

"Alhamdulillah, so when are you coming back?" I asked

"In three days insha Allah"

"That reminds me, we have this presentation next week and it carries a lot of marks, you're also in my group"

"Ohh, ok Toh, In Sha Allah I'll be back by then"she said

"Toh Allah ya kaimu, see you soon"

"Yeah, see you, bye!"

"Bye"

I hung up the phone and I decided to go downstairs to help with some chores
