I am a failure. My whole family has rejected me. Just because I'm not like my great great great grandparents.

The Jackson family is famous for their long line of heroes. We're descended from the famous Percy and Annabeth Jackson, the two who brought the impossible together. The legacy of Athena and Poseidon. The first ever in the entire history.

I'm becoming 16 in a day, and I have the trademark black hair and grey eyes. All of my family have it. I have never ever been on a quest and my family hates it. Apparently, I need to "prove yourself to be worthy of the title Jackson."

My best friend's names are Elizabeth Lupin and Oscar Potter. They only see me during the summer and Christmas but I've known them since diapers.

I sank into my bed and quickly fell asleep, thinking of what was to come tomorrow.

I unsurprisingly had a dream. When the fog cleared, I saw a mirror. It had the words,

"Erised stra ehru oyt ube cafru oyt on wohsi"

I looked into it and found myself in the middle of my family, full of black haired people and grey eyes. Next to me was my two best friends. They all seemed to be praising me. Only then did I realise what I looked like. I had my usual hair and eyes but I was leaner, taller, tanner. I looked like I was chiselled out of marble. I held the sword which was lost since Percy Jackson died, the one and only Anaklusmos in my hand.

I stared into it for ages until the mirror disappeared, next, showing a man and a woman. That man was lean and tall, what I looked like in the mirror, instead he had sea green eyes. The woman had wavy blonde hair with piercing grey eyes, more intense than the usual type of grey I was used to. They were talking and laughing, but silenced when they saw me.

"Hello Charles. Sorry for disturbing your sleep. I know how horrible dreams can be. How are you?''

''I'm fine, umm who are y-''

''I knew a man named Charles once Do you know who you were named after?" The woman interrupted.

"I know, the famous son of Hephaestus, the one who created all the weapons and sacrificed himself for the sake of all demigods. Not fitting at all."

"Charles, your name doesn't become who you are. You become what your name is. It happens no matter what people say. My name means grace, and knowledge seeking. I'm proud that this is my name. Comparing yourself to this guy, you're lucky. His name means destroyer. Whilst your name simply means Manly. You may not think that you're manly but just you wait, you'll be manly, no matter how many years it may take you." The lady said.

"What are your names?" I asked, racking my brain for any names which meant destroyer.

"I'm Percy, and she's Annabeth." I froze.

"THE Percy and Annabeth Jackson?!!"

"Yep!" He said... I nearly fainted.

"You're my great great great grandparents!!!"

"Gods! Has it been that long?" The Percy said.

"Yea it has seaweed brain." Wow, then she must be the wise girl!!

"I'm sorry that our family has turned out this horribly. One of them was similar to my best friend, Luke, easily corrupted, too pure. She didn't hate the Gods but the humans corrupted her. I have a favour. I want you to be your namesake and change the Jackson family so that it will never turn bad again." Annabeth said.

"But I can't. It's my sixteenth birthday and I still don't know how to prove myself."

"Oh we'll take care of that. Now, you're waking up. Good luck Charles!!"

"But!" Was all I could say as the world turned white around me.

I woke up and got dresses still dazed from my dream. I didn't even notice the unfamiliar weight in my pocket.

"So, Charles, what are you going to do to prove yourself!?" My cousins taunted. I just sighed but didn't have the time to think as we heard a growl. There was a giant thing with both horns missing, with a bull for its head.

The Minotaur.

It charged forward but everyone but me was caught by surprise I was unnaturally calm and simply jumped out of its way as it rammed into my doufus cousins, I nearly wanted to thank it.

I saw the rest of my family turn to them as the monster roared at me. The wind whispered to me,
"Your pocket"

I pulled out a bronze pen and pulled its cap. A leaf shaped sword sprung out, gleaming brightly in the shade.

I slashed at its body, and as it doubled over, I jumped onto its head and stabbed the head of the Minotaur. I fell into a pile of gold dust and walked out of the pile.

"Well done Charles. You've proven yourself worthy by defeating the minotaur and wielding the legendary sword, Anaklusmos, or Riptide."

~a few months later~

I walked around the city, buying stuff with Elizabeth and Patrick when I walked pass a woman with warm brown eyes and another man with sandy blond hair, each holding a crib. They seemed to be neighbours. I gasped when I saw the babies. One boy had blonde hair with sparkling grey eyes. The girl had pitch black hair and sea green eyes.

"W-what are their names?" I stuttered. Not caring that I never met the people before.

"He's Andrew Chasing"

"She's Pearl Jakingson"

I smiled to myself. Apparently, my great great great grandparents chose rebirth.

''Are you a couple?'' I was just wondering, neither had sea green eyes or piercing grey eyes...

"Oh no! We just happened to live next to each other, and we were going to walk to the park."

''We got along relally well, we even have the sad fact of losing our lover in common as well...''

As a demigod.

"My advice is to not marry someone else to hide their scent, and to not Marry someone who doesn't believe. You'll understand one day. Goodbye!" They looked at me utterly confused but I jogged away to find my friends.

I sneaked towards my friends who were talking in hushed voices.

"Should we tell him?" Lizzie whispered to Oscar.

"Tell me what?" I walked out, making them freeze before jumping ten metres into the air.

"Oh, Charles!! We didn't hear you walking - I mean, we were just wondering how we should tell you something we kept secret from you for ages."

"I've kept something a secret as well, and I'll go first. I'm the legacy of a god. You?"

"We're wizards."

Well fudge...

And that's how I met wizards...?
