"With the new day comes new strength and new thoughts"

It was finally nighttime and you were ready to go to sleep! But, there was one problem —you couldn't. You look up at the clock to see what the time was.

     1 o'clock

Your eyes widen a bit as you notice how late it was. You groan quietly and roll over on your side. If you didn't go to sleep now, you knew your mother was somehow going to find out you didn't sleep the whole night, and if she did find out then you were in big trouble.

You kept tossing and turning, blinking really fast, you even tip-toed your way to the kitchen to have a glass of milk and some cookies! But nothing seemed to work. You started to get annoyed at yourself, because all you could think about were the events that had transpired earlier that day. You thought about how all those kids laughed at you, Josie Pye and her stupid, mean face. Your brain just wouldn't stop.

You thought about how you would ask your mother if you could stop going to school. You knew she would say you had to keep going, but it was still worth a shot. Your mother wanted you to get a good education so you could get a good job. But, if you were going to be honest, you didn't want a job. You would rather be a house wife because it seemed like the easier option.

You always took the easier option because you were too scared to take risks. You wanted to start taking risks like going on adventures, getting into a relationship, and just going out into the world. But you couldn't. You just couldn't. That upset you greatly because you wanted to be able to do things other people could.

Your train of thought was suddenly interrupted, as it always was, when you heard the sound of footsteps. Heavy footsteps. You could always tell who was walking by the sound of their footsteps, and you knew these were your father's. You started to panic a bit because if your father saw you awake, he would tell your mother and they would both give you extra chores. So you did what anybody would have done. You pretended to be asleep. You heard your father open your door slightly to check if you were asleep, and you could feel him staring.

'Just a few more seconds (Y/N)..' you told yourself.

You let out a quiet breath of relief when you heard him close the door and walk away. Although you knew he was gone, you kept your eyes closed just incase he came back. As you did so, your body finally let you drift away into dreamland.

     "(Y/N)! Wake up!"

You heard the voice of your mother call you. You opened your eyes slowly and look around your room, squinting your eyes a bit. You started to think about how you would ask your mother to stay home, when suddenly an amazing thought came to you.

'Maybe I could just pretend to go to school. Brilliant (Y/N)!'

As you were about to get up and start getting ready, another thought came to mind.

'Or.. I could go to school. Just so I could apologize to Gilbert. I was being quite rude when I ignored him.'

You had made your decision. You were going to go to school JUST so you could apologize. That was the only reason you were going. Hopefully you'll just bump into him in the woods, make your apology, and then head to the highest tree you could find.

You got up and started to get prepared for the day. As you started to head downstairs, a bunch of different scenarios for the day started to play out in your head.

'Maybe I should just give school another chance. I mean, it wouldn't hurt, would it?'

You were starting to doubt yourself. A lot. You didn't know what you wanted to do. Maybe you should just talk to your parents about it. Yeah. That would help. They always knew the right things to say.

"Um, mother?", you called her from the parlour. You started to get a little bit nervous and you started to rub your hands together. What of she didn't give you any good advice? Then what would you do?

"Yes sweetheart?", your mother called back from the kitchen. She poked her head through the doorway to look at you, "Are you alright?"

How did she even know something was wrong? Was she some kind of mind reader?

You started to walk closer towards her so you wouldn't have to talk so loud, when you suddenly caught a glimpse of yourself in a  reflective surface.

'That's how she knew something was wrong. I was frowning and I didn't even realize.'

"I have a question you ask you," you look at your mother for a second before continuing, "I have a friend who doesn't want to go to school anymore because she's scared she's going to get bullied again. What do you think she should do?" You look down and start playing with your hands, waiting for your mothers response.

You could hear her walk closer and you felt her put her hands on your shoulder, "I think that your 'friend' should give school another try." You looked up at her and she gave you a soft smile to reassure you, "now you should get going, you don't want to be late."

You nodded your head slowly, "okay, I guess I'll go."

'I guess I am going to give school another chance. I really hope today goes by quickly so I could get this done and over with.'

You grabbed your lunch and your school books from the kitchen to start heading out. You gave your mom a hug and a kiss, ready to leave before she suddenly stopped you.

"(Y/N), please, just try to make the most of it." You quickly nodded at her and ran out the door to quickly say goodbye to your father.
