I smiled as I sent the post before glancing around my silent living room. I dropped back against the couch, a smile on my face as I stared up at the ceiling, my hand settled on my stomach. I have missed this silence.
I turned to the front door as a knock sounded. I pushed myself up from the couch and began towards the door which I pulled open to reveal mom. I was instantly attacked by Batman and Ella who came running at me.
"Hi, Babies. Oh, I missed you guys so much" I lowered myself down to the floor, giggling as they began to jump at me, Ella licking at my fingers as I ran my fingers into her fur. "Have you both been good while I've been away?" I continued to giggle as Batman began to lick at my chin as he stood in my lap, his paws on my shoulders.
"They've been little treasures" I glanced up at mom with a smile, taking a hold of her hand so she could help me to stand. "Oh, my little grandbaby is growing so well" I chuckled and rolled my eyes as mom placed her hands onto either side of my slightly swollen stomach.
"It's not so easy to hide anymore. We struggled for the last few shows, we had to adjust one of the costumes around my waist. Thankfully it didn't look too obvious and I was able to get away with it otherwise the rumours would fly."
"That just confirms that he or she is healthy" I couldn't help but to smile as I glanced down at my belly.
"I can't believe we're gonna find out if it's a boy or a girl next week" mom's smile grew impossibly wider as did mine.
"You do realise that Maddie and Dallas have a bet, right?" I rolled my eyes which caused mom to chuckle. "Maddie thinks girl. Dallas thinks they're a boy" I couldn't help the smile that remained on my face as I glanced down at my stomach, lightly caressing my bump.
"I'm with Dallas, Nick's with Maddie."
"You look so tired, Baby Girl."
"I am tired but it's nothing I can't handle" I could see just by the look that mom gave me, that she didn't believe me.
"You're carrying a baby, Baby" mom chuckled and I rolled my eyes at her words. "You need to rest when you can. It's going to become difficult the further along you are."
"You sound like Nick."
"It's only because we care, Baby Girl. Go up for a nap. I'll stick around for a bit longer" I knew already that I wouldn't be able to argue because she'd drag me upstairs anyway.
"Seen as I know you won't let me say no, I'll go for a nap" mom smiled in victory, leaning to press a kiss to my cheek. "Thank you for bringing back my babies" she smiled as she nodded, stroking a strand of hair behind my ear.
"Go on, Baby" I glanced back at mom briefly as I disappeared upstairs, only realising how tired I actually was when I dropped down onto the bed.
"Have a nice nap, Baby" I spoke softly, smiling down at my stomach as I lightly caressed my belly. "I love you so much, Little Squid. I can't wait to feel your kicks."
I fell asleep with a soft smile on my face. eV -
I woke at the sound of Batman and Ella barking from downstairs. As tired as I was and as annoyed as I was that I'd been woken, I couldn't help but to smile at the sound. I have missed them so much during this past month. I rolled over in bed and grabbed my phone so I could check the time. 15:32. I've been asleep for over 4 hours. I pulled my phone off charge and removed the blanket that had been thrown over my body before climbing out of bed, pulling my shirt down but I smiled as my eyes landed on my exposed bump.
"I can't wait to start feeling you move" I spoke as I settled my hand on my belly. "I want to feel you kick so badly" I unlocked my phone and went onto the camera so I could take a photo of my constantly growing bump. I saved the photo into the album 'Squid❤️' before I locked my phone and shoved it into the pocket of my jeans. I began out of my bedroom and towards the top of the stairs where I heard mom talking. I couldn't help but to smile at the voice that travelled through the house in reply to hers. I almost skipped down the stairs, but I refrained. The instant that I stepped into the living room, my heart jumped in my chest.
"Nick" he turned to look at me, cutting off his conversation with my mom, a smile spread across his face as our eyes met.
"Hi" I began towards him, wrapping my arms around him.
"Hi" I bit down on my lip and blushed as my eyes caught mom's over Nick's shoulder. She was smirking at me, a smirk that I'd seen plenty of times before. "What are you doing here?" I pulled away, running my fingers through my hair as I kept my smiling face on his.
"I thought I'd come and see how you're doing" my smile grew at Nick's obvious worry for me.
"I'm good! I'm glad to finally have my babies home though" I lowered myself down onto the couch, smiling as Batman instantly jumped onto my lap.
"I'm going to get going, leave you two alone. I'll see you later, Baby" I smiled up at mom as she pressed a kiss to the top of my head before leaving the house, leaving Nick and I alone.
