So I've noticed that I have not been updating this lately and I'm really sorry, I've been busy and have been in a slump. And in a slump I mean being so obsessed with Miraculous Ladybug that I haven't done anything else besides reading fanfiction and rewatching all the episodes over and over again. Gosh I haven't finished a real book in forever and I'm really disappointed in myself I know but I'm getting help *cough cough Tidela471 * But anyway I'm getting better at it because I'm getting Catwoman: Soulstealer this weekend and I'm pumped for it.
I've been thinking about this for a while (And of course I haven't gotten the chance to put out here) but I've been thinking about the title of the series a lot lately. Throne of Glass. What is it meaning by that? Yes I get it, it's meaning a literal throne made out of glass because that's the throne in the castle in Adarlan, but you have to remember it was destroyed in Queen of Shadows, the whole glass part of the castle is destroyed.
Well I did some research on Sarah and we all know that she started Throne of Glass when she was 16 years old, well now shes 32 years old and the series is coming to an end *tear drop* well like I said I did some digging. Apparently she posted the story on Fictionpress.com. Well originally it was called "Queen of Glass" and it was one of the most known and read stories on there, but she decided to publish it and took it down. She of course then edited it and changed the title but what's with the glass? The glass castle was destroyed and knowing Sarah she had the whole series planned out since the beginning so it has to be important.
I was thinking what If it comes back or plays a role. Like why name this huge epic series Throne of Glass if this wasn't important. I could think of other things that she could have named it instead of Throne of Glass. They are fighting for their freedom and for their kingdoms but the Glass throne is only in Adarlan and I get that that's where everything started but they are fighting the valg and Maeve and all that, so what does that have to do with anything???
This is bugging me because the glass throne is important and its been destroyed, but like watch it that at the end of KoA there will be a chapter that's like 10 years later and that glass throne will be back again OR their wont be a glass throne because it will remind them of the monstrous things the previous owner of that throne did. These are all possibilities for the glass throne.
But there is also the original name she had for the story, Queen of Glass. Glass is repeating and I want to know why, it can't just mean for the glass castle, there has to be another meaning. If there was anyone who researched Sarah when Tog first came out then you could have predicted that Celaena was of royal blood, and even in the beginning of Crown of Midnight but that's besides the point. If you knew she originally named it "Queen of Glass" when she was writing it what would you automatically think? Well before reading the rest of the series I would expect her to be the Queen of Adarlan because that's where the glass castle is but that's not right. i feel like the answer is on the tip of my tongue but I just can't get into words to portray what I'm thinking.
All I'm saying is that I feel like this will come back in Kingdom of Ash, I feel like the name for the WHOLE series has been dismissed and I feel like that's what Sarah wants us to do. She wants to distract us with all these problems but then comes out from behind and pops something out of nowhere. I actually just thought of this but what if when she named it "Queen of Glass" what if she wasn't talking about Aelin. Now I know its not definite but we can see Manon and Dorian getting together and I don't know who will die or whatever in Kingdom of Ash but remember Manon is the heir of two royal (well in the witch community) bloodlines and she is hooking up with a king that ironically had a glass castle and that could potentially be built again with a throne made out of glass. Now I know this is all far fetched, I've been writing this for over half an hour and its like 12:20 am where I am but who cares, I don't want to lose my train of thought.
ORRRRRRR oh my gosh I just thought of this as well. ToG was based off Cinderella as we all know, Sarah has said it many times. When she first starting writing it her thought process was like "what if Cinderella wasn't a maid but an assassin?" and that was how Throne of Glass was born. But we are all familiar with Cinderella's story, and when the clock strikes midnight, Cinderella leaves and leaves what? a GLASS slipper. What if Sarah titled this on purpose based off of Cinderella's slipper. Cinderella lost her glass slipper, well Aelin lost her throne, well when she was a child. But it could also be foreshadowing that she will lose the throne in Kingdom of Ash. So maybe its just meaning a throne but she decided to make it glass because of Cinderella's slippers, it makes sense because that's what her story was based off of. So it may be meaning all of this or it could just mean that it all started in the glass castle with the glass throne and the man that sat atop of it, I don't know but I feel like I'm rambling and I know I should get some sleep but this is bothering me and I'm fully into this. I have literally written over 1,000 words in about 40 minutes lol.
Any thoughts on any of this? Do you have your own personal theories about why its called Throne of Glass, or why she called it Queen of Glass in the beginning?? I would love to see what you guys are thinking about and hopefully mine wont sound too absurd. If they are then I apologize but GAH its on the tip of my tongue, I hate this feeling.
Please comment anything about your thought or how you feel on what I have said and lets hope for the best when Kingdom of Ash comes out.
