As you all know I have an obsession with the book called After by imaginator1D

Now the movie came out today and ahhh I'm super excited for everyone to see it, but I was so lucky to see it last night. The theatre near me held a prescreening so I went with my bff.

Before I start my little "rant" just know that I highly suggest it to everyone no matter what I say 😂

I liked the movie but I have to be honest and say that is was disappointing. I expected a lot more and they didn't meet my standards, the actors were great it was the plot. The reason why I love After so much compared to any other romance book is because of the realism in it. There are real problems that happen in relationships that Anna incorporated into this book. Yes it did portray an unhealthy relationship and some can argue for abusive, but these are real problems that not everyone acknowledges in books. The book was so infuriating at times because of what the characters were doing and I gave up on it. Not going to lie I was so frustrated I gave up, but I decided to give it another chance and here I am months later obsessed. Anna the author of this amazing series said this in one of her chapters in book three and this really hit me in the heart, she said "you may not like what's happening in the book but don't give up on it just because you don't like it. A book is supposed to make you feel all different types of emotions and that is what I'm doing here." It was something along these lines, but this couldn't be more true. If a book is not making you feel all different emotions at different times then it's not your kind of book, but trust me this book will make you FEEL. I just loved the way she said that and I've kept it at heart ever since.

Going back on track here, the plot of the movie was not the best. They had some key points but they weren't on point if you know what I mean. They skipped over every single fight that the two characters have and just romanticized the whole relationship, which yes it is a romance movie but it's so much more than that. Anna is an amazing writer for character development and the movie did not do justice to all the characters development through the first book.
Yes they could take some fights out but not all of them, they are an essential part of the story and they just did not do that.

Another thing is that they went in order but also they didn't. They brought something in from book FOUR to the end of the movie and I'm like "..." because why the heck would they bring something from book 4 to movie 1???

The whole symbol for the book is the infinity heart and Hardin has one on the inside of his wrist, but now here in the movie does it show the tattoo. It made me mad that we couldn't see the tattoo.

It was a quick movie in my opinion and I don't think they gave enough screen time other characters. There were so many other vital characters for this story to come along and I swear they were in it for 5 minutes out of the whole 2 hour movie. It just disappointed me that we didn't get to see any of the other characters (LIKE MOLLY AND LANDON).

THE SEX SCENES. OMFG. I don't want to sound like that type of fan but there was literally NOTHING. Just two or three makeout sessions but that's literally it. Yes it's PG-13 but there were no sexual innuendos AT ALL and the point when they finally had sex was way too far into the movie. Like I said before, they didn't go in order at times. It pissed me off that they skipped out on some of those things.

That being said, I think if you have no experience reading the book then I think you would enjoy it. Me being able to fully quote the book expected a lot but they just didn't meet it. Though like I said, the actors were amazing and let me just tell y'all something. Hero Fiennes-Tiffin is so freakin hot you cannot change my mind.

BUT A GOOD THING CAME OUT OF IT AS WELL!! The theatre was not really full it only had a couple of groups of girls and that was it. Well we all have read the books so throughout the movie we made comments and screamed when they were wrong at parts and just other things. Like when Hardin came on screen the first time my friend screamed "DADDY" and everyone screamed back "YES" we were one big family. Well at the end of the movie we all met up and got each other's snaps and now have a group chat called "Da Fuck Was That" amazing girls absolutely love them. So you can find friends literally anywhere 😂

Well I hope I didn't ruin your image of the movie, still highly recommend it, I just wish they added a bit more. And if you do go see it don't be afraid to PM me and tell me what you think!!!!!
