And For Some Reason It's Okay

Their torrent unceasing,
Their knives digging trails down my skin, impact hissing,
Alone again while draining myself with the rain.

Chin to the heavens, eyes shut,
Every new drop stealing warmth where it cut,
Battles were won but the war was lost.

And for some reason its okay.

Porcelain dolls were made to be handled with silk for hands,
Not like mine, their course thick as sands.

Snatched up with dusted pale gloves, she's no longer of my domain.
My silly fantasies slain in the rain.

And for some reason its okay.

The brightness in her jaded eyes when she smiles,
It spins the soil I stand upon.

And to think that ray of light is no longer within my grasp,

I'll bite the wind and mimic the dropping clouds with my own eyes.
Try to roar away this churning fire inside my chest.

And for some reason its okay.

I've always tried.
