People say beauty is embarked
In our personalities,
Virtues,
Vices.
Yet faces speaks words
While our souls stay silent,
Dead behind shining skin
Wrapped in glitter and light.
And everyone looks up at me
Laughs at my body
And the mind they can't see
A heart they don't feel.
They don't see the darkness
Only the brightness they can endure the pain of
Not the lonely starts behind my eyes
Not the fury burning
Not the storms
Not the tides.
Do they ever understand,
Do they even forgive themselves,
Do they ever ask for answers?
For nobody has know the suffering of a dead frown
And the tired, broken eyes that still shine with fake lights,
Not my need to answer the questions they never ask;
They've never known,
I was always a drought behind a golden mask.
