Steve x Bucky

This is supposed to be a Stucky one shot, but it's more of a "changing Civil War ending and pretending Infinity War didn't happen" one shot.

"Buck, I promise there's nothing to worry about. It'll work out, ok?"

Bucky appreciates Steve's confidence, but he wasn't too sure that Steve was right. Bucky was going to finally be introduced to all the avengers and officially become their newest member.

They were already at the avengers compound and it wouldn't be very long before Bucky was face to face with all the avengers, including Tony Stark and all the other people he'd hurt way back when.

Even though Steve kept telling him there was nothing to worry about, he was still getting anxious and Steve knew that he needed a way to calm down.

"Buck, listen to me."

Steve stopped Bucky where he was and held his shoulders gently, but firm enough to make sure Bucky wouldn't go anywhere.

"I know Tony was mad at the time, but he knows that what happened wasn't your fault. He's a reasonable person and he may not forgive the winter soldier, but he will forgive you."

Bucky sighed and tried to push Steve's hands off his shoulders, but Steve wouldn't budge.
Instead, Steve proceeded to move himself even closer to Bucky, wrapping strong arms around his neck.

Bucky's voice went quiet and was barely audible.

"I don't belong here."

Steve was devastated to hear Bucky say that. Not because he wanted Bucky to be a part of the team, but because he wanted Bucky to be happy and feel loved. Seeing Bucky looking at the ground, on the verge of tears, made Steve start to tear up until he couldn't stop crying.
Seeing Steve cry made Bucky start to cry, so he instinctively moved himself closer to Steve's warm embrace.

The two stayed there for a while, but didn't say anything because they didn't need to. Bucky knew what Steve was thinking.

You do belong here. You will always belong because you are a hero and that's an indisputable fact.

Steve knew what Bucky was longing to say to him without hearing the words.

I belong with you. Please don't ever leave me. You're all I have.

The tears slowed down little by little until there was nothing left except two people who are very much in love with each other.

Steve moved his hands up to cup Bucky's cheeks and kissed him slowly, but gently. Bucky melted under Steve's touch, but was very quick to kiss him back. When Steve pulled away he put his forehead against Bucky's.

"C'mon Buck. Let's go, ok?"

Bucky flashed the smallest of smiles and nodded gently so that he wouldn't push Steve away from him.

"Okay Stevie. Let's go meet all of them."

Steve slowly pulled himself away from Bucky, but grabbed onto him so that they were holding hands. Bucky happily took Steve's hand and was glad that he would have Steve by his side the whole time.
