After Bruce and Thor got together, they realized that there were some complications. This was expected of course, but they didn't realize how difficult it would be to work things out.

Thor had to rule Asgard. It was his home, they were his people, and he had a responsibility to rule over them. There was the idea of letting Loki rule Asgard and Thor could assist from the sidelines, but Thor didn't think his brother or his people were ready for that just yet.

Bruce loved earth and the people he'd met on it. Earth was his home and, just like Thor couldn't leave Asgard, Bruce couldn't leave Earth. He felt like he had a responsibility to protect the people of Earth as best as he could.

This left the two of them worlds apart. Thor would occasionally visit Earth to see the avengers and help out if that's why they called him. Bruce would ask Heimdall to bring him to Asgard if he was missing Thor. Those moments were often, but Thor had a planet to rule; Bruce didn't want to bother him all the time. Thor wished that Bruce missed him more often.

Occasionally, the two of them would get some quality time together. Waking up with Thor's arms around him was the highlight of Bruce's week or month, depending on how often the two saw each other. However, it only made waking up alone on all the other days that much harder.

One morning, Bruce woke up dripping in sweat after a terrible nightmare. In the nightmare, he was tied up and held captive. Hulk was there, but not as a part of him. Hulk had become separated from him and no longer needed Bruce to house him. Hulk laughed at Bruce's attempts to escape. Then, some faceless goon brought out a half-beaten Thor. Bruce called out to him but was interrupted by Hulk beating Thor. There was no mercy and Bruce could do nothing but sit and watch as the man he loved was being tortured by the darker side of himself.

It went on for what felt like hours. Bruce begged for Hulk to stop or to hurt him instead of Thor, but it was useless. He was practically invisible. To make it even worse, he wouldn't wake up like people usually do during a nightmare. It just kept going with no end in sight.

Waking up from that made Bruce's hand shake as he reached over to his side, only to find an empty bed. Panic quickly set in and Bruce needed to have Thor in front of him, just to be sure.

"H-Heimdall, I need to see him. Please."

A bright light filled Bruce's room and soon enough, he ended up in front of Heimdall, who gestured to the bifrost. Bruce muttered a quiet 'thank you' as he started walking. His pace quickened to a jog and then a sprint as he neared the golden castle that he hoped Thor would be in.

Running through the empty corridors in the middle of the night, Bruce couldn't help but feel crazy, but that was nothing new to him.
He knew the halls like the back of his hand and it didn't take long for him to navigate himself to Thor's room where he threw open the door without knocking. He found a very startled Thor who was woken up by the loud noise from the door.

"Bruce? What are you doing here?" His voice was deep and raspy, which would've made him even more attractive than usual, but his wild bedhead took away from that a bit. Bruce didn't mind at all.

The smaller man threw himself into the arms of his boyfriend, who was confused still, but always appreciated the company. However, Bruce's tears staining his shirt made him worried as he pulled the distraught scientist into his bed and tucked them both under the covers. Bruce wouldn't stop crying as Thor held him tightly in his arms.

They stayed like that for a while without exchanging a single word. Bruce wouldn't loosen his grip no matter what and Thor wouldn't either. In that moment, they realized how much they both wanted to spend more time together.

Eventually, Bruce's sobs were reduced to sniffles as Thor moved back a bit and ruffled the fluffy, somewhat-gray hair that was in front of him.

"Bruce, do you want to talk about what's wrong? Or would you like to rest and talk in the morning?"

Bruce snuggled his head into the crook of Thor's neck and simply answered " in the morning."

They fell asleep in each other's arms and Bruce was glad that he slept well. He hated having nightmares, but more than that, he hated when Thor worried about him and seeing Bruce in the state he was in earlier would've given Thor a heart attack. Luckily, it didn't come to that.

The next morning was one of Bruce's best. By the time he'd woken up, Thor had already made them a full breakfast and had it brought over on a tray so that they could eat it in bed. The two of them enjoyed their breakfast until they inevitably had to talk about what'd happened to Bruce the night before.

Not wanting to lie, Bruce told him everything, but tried to play it off and make it seem a lot better than it actually was. However, Thor saw through that pretty easily. With a brother like Loki, he'd gotten good at sensing when something was off.

"Bruce, we have to find some way to make this separation easier for both of us. We can't continue like this. Maybe we can-"

"Can I live in Asgard?"

"...what?"

"Can I live in Asgard? I did want to stay on Earth, but I can visit there anytime. You, on the other hand, can't just leave at anytime, you have to stay here. So, I'm asking if I can stay here with you."

"Yes."

"Is it that simple?"

"I'm the king. It's as simple as I say it is."

Thor leaned over to gently kiss Bruce. Their lips moved in perfect sync and their hands held the other tight. Bruce couldn't help but notice that Thor's lips tasted like the oddly-shaped Asgardian breakfast that they'd eaten earlier.

The kiss was sweet, but not very short. They continued to kiss until they were out of breath, and even then, they continued to hold each other extremely close. It wasn't until Loki barged in that they separated.

"Hey Thor, wh- oh. OH. I think I'm going to leave now, goodbye."

Bruce called after him. "Hey, we weren't- this wasn't...um, that." Thor simply laughed at their antics as he looked at Bruce with all the love he felt. Bruce saw this look and was taken aback by it, but gave Thor a quick kiss.

"What is this food that is making your lips taste so good?"

"Heh," Thor chuckled quietly. "If they taste so good then I guess you won't mind me kissing you again."

Needless to say, Bruce didn't mind.
