Content Warnings: death

Will's hair and hands were slick with sweat and his heart was pounding faster and faster by the second. When Will had set out to save Kelsie (apparently from a forced marriage) this was not what he'd envisioned himself doing. In fact, he'd only brought the sword as a back up.

Anne was pushing him closer and closer to where Kelsie was strapped to the mast. The man holding her chains jeered at Will, surprising him. Will swung his sword backwards and decapitated him. Flinching, Will dropped his sword with a clang.

Now free, Kelsie clambered over the chains gingerly. Will's hand gripped hers as he bent down to pick up the sword from where it had fallen.

Her anger towards Will was still there and she wanted to act on it, but considering the situation she was going to have to hold onto his arm and hang tight for the time being.

The acolytes had advanced closer to the pair and Anne was swinging her sword around in the air while being dangerously close to the flimsy mast. Kelsie was close enough to hear her muttered curse words.

But, before Kelsie could blink Anne regained her composure. She straightened up and her eyes glowed with a renewed strength.

'ATTACK!' Anne said, her voice splitting the air as she stepped towards Kelsie and Will's frozen forms.

'YOU WERE THE PERSON WHO WANTED ME TO GO TO THE BEACH IN THE FIRST PLACE!' Kelsie yelled.

Will's sword cut through the air in front of her face as he slashed one of Anne's acolytes faces. He'd been getting more and more aggravated as time went on.

'I ONLY DID IT BECAUSE YOU SEEMED LIKE YOU WERE DYING! IT DIDN'T SEEM LIKE IT WAS HEALTHY.' Will replied.

Kelsie spun around the front of the mast, narrowly avoiding another sword tip.

'OH YEAH? WHY DO YOU CARE?' Kelsie asked.

Anne's broadsword was getting closer and closer to the wooden structure. Had Kelsie realised this she probably would've done something to stop what happened next.

'WHY? WELL MAYBE I'VE GROWN TO-'

Sadly his voice was cut short by the slim mast falling on top of his body and the deck breaking into pieces around it. Anne's broadsword fell to the floor with a clunk.

For a short moment nobody on the ship moved. Then Anne's malicious laughter filled the air. What was Kelsie going to do now?
